Large mass of ice cubes

have you checked it when it's filling to see if it's overflowing or the heater on the ice maker might not be shutting off and melting some of the cubes but you have to check, also it could be the water valve, see if there's an adjustment on the ice maker, look in your book, some of them have an adjustment, try to adjust it so less water is coming into the ice maker but to answer your question you might need a new ice maker or a water valve, the only way to tell is to watch it when it fills to see what's happening, you can pop off the cover to the ice maker and jump it out with a piece of wire,in the bottom right hand corner you'll see two holes close together,t and h stick the jumper wire in those two holes and the ice maker will start up,watch it until it fills,if it overflows try the screw to let less water into it,if that doesn't work then it's gonna be the water valve letting to much water come into the valve

Freezer is very cold but fridge area is warm. what

Sometimes the defrost drain pan stops up. Instead of the water goin outside is pools up between the compartments. This forms a slab of ice and blocks the air flow from freezer to fresh food. Of course the other thing that comes to mind is the freezer fan could have quit or stopped due to an ice buildup. Water in the refrigrator

The evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the inside of the freezer at the bottom of the rear cover.

Our refrig is leaking water in the drawer and

you have a plugged up drain in the freezer.when the machine goes into defrost the ice melts off the coil and goes down the drain in the freezer and drips down to the bottom pan where it evaporates, but your drain is blocked so the water can't drain correctly.you have to empty the freezer, remove the ice maker and shelves, remove the back wall and with a hair dryer melt out all the ice.after the ice is gone you have to clear the drain.i use a steemer to clear out the drain,if you don't have a steemer you can use like a turkey baster or anything that will blow through the drain line and clear it.when you think it's clear, pour hot water down through the drain to make sure it's clear.there's a heater you can install into the drain hole so this doesn't happen again, you can call your local parts store and tell them you need a drain heater or you can make one,get a 6 inch piece of house electrical wire, remove the ground wire from the casing, stick it in the hole until it hits the bottom of the drain, then leave enough to rap around the heater that melts the ice off the coil around a half inch and cut off the rest, when theheater comes on the wire heats up and stops the ice from blocking the drain. you want it long enough to go down the drain without hitting anything,4 to 5 inches is plenty, let me know how you make out

FRIDGE IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY DEFROSTING, PLEASE

When asking for help, you should include the brand and model number to help get a great answer.

The automatic defrost system has 3 parts. 1: Timer. 2: heater. 3: thermal switch

The timer will start the automatic defrost cycle every so many hours. If the timer fails, the defrost cycle will never start. The electrical schematics should be under or on the back of the refrigerator. You can use this to figure out how to test the timer.

The heater is what does the actual defrosting. If it is broken, it will not heat.

The thermal switch turns the heater off when enough ice has been melted. If this switch fails, it will prevent the heater from heating.

The heater and the thermal switch will be wired in series and their connections will be securely covered so you cannot test them independently. You can electrically test then together but you cannot decide which one is broken unless you expose or cut a wire. I have never seen a heater fail.

I see timers and thermal switches fail. Heaters don't fail very often.

The heater and thermal switch are in the freezer area and are very close to the evaporator. You will have to take apart enough of the freezer compartment to get to these parts. You will also need to melt enough ice to get to these parts.

Water dripps down from freezer into fridge section

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

You unit has a defrost drain hose, This hose is either clogged or frozen. which prevents water to leave when your unit goes into defrost. You will have to remove the back freezer panel, to access the hose.
If the hose is frozen, you will have to defrost the unit. and if the hose is frozen, you may have a defrost issues.

If the hose is clogged you may have to use compressed air to blow out.

We have a Whirlpool refrigerator model

There is no drain line as the only water that goes into the refrigerator is the water that goes into the ice maker. The out side water only goes into a glass or spilled on the floor.

I suspect that your inlet water solonoid is not reseating properly after the ice maker signals it to close. It opens by an electro magnet and closes by spring pressure. You may have to have it replaced. The ice maker rotats and hits a micro switch that sends power to the solonoid that snaps it open and is held as long as the switch is depressed. when the cam on the rotating vane passes the micro switch lever, the switch goes back to normal taking the power off of the solonoid, and spring pressure snaps it back in the closed position. This cam is timed to just fill up your ice tray.
