Apple MacBook Pro Notebook - Page 3 Questions & Answers
My macbook got wet, I dried it and seems to be working OK, but will not charge from the wall charger
First easy thing to try is - remove the battery and make sure that the contacts are dry and clean. When that doesn't work, then try to swap batteries with someone else that has one or maybe at the Apple store. When the other/new battery does not charge either, then you know that something internal is shot and not easy for you to fix. If the laptop won't run without a battery, then you can probably skip to the last step. Sorry about mostly bad news. I've seen this happen more than once, and typically the whole laptop is dead. So you are actually lucky it works at all.
Buying a laptop
Look for an international plug adapter kit. Various companies make them. Kensington, etc.
My mackbook fell and wont turn on
Hard to answer without more details. If the apple logo turns on but then the operating system do not load, the problem possibly is your hard disk. It may be also a memory module that got displaced.
You have to un-screw all screws at the back and verify that your memory modules aren't dispaced, or a power cord/connector disconnected. In case this also fails, you have to carry your computer to a professional tech service.

Repeated password requests
OS X does that now if you are running programs that can modify your system / hard drive.
You can change some settings in:
Apple menu
System Preferences
Security & Privacy
Unlock using Lock Icon bottom left,
Change the 'Allow Apps Downloaded From' setting.
Click to lock to save changes.
All the best to you,
Kerry
Blank screen
Sounds like your screen went bad.
Close the lid, attach an external monitor, open lid and see if the screen appears on the monitor.
Resetting the PRAM may do the trick also:
You reset the PRAM by rebooting a Mac and then immediately hold down the Command+Option+P+R keys, you will then hear the Mac reboot sound again, signifying your PRAM has been reset. You must hit the key combination before the grey screen appears otherwise it won't work.
Happy New Year,
Kerry
Macbook pro lock up
Not usually, It depends how much other stuff you are running. You may need a RAM upgrade. Next time it locks up hit "Apple, option, esc" will bring up a task manager, you can close the programs not responding from here. Try closing all programs and then trying your office APPS. If still no good you WILL need a RAM upgrade.
Auvio bluetooth wont connect to mac
In general, you can check
Apple -> System Preferences -> Bluetooth
and see if it appears there and you can pair it.
Alternatively, you can send Auvio a message at http://www.auvio.nl/Contact%20International.html
Root default password
OS X doesn't have a root user by default, and only gains a password when it's created.

My 2001 MacBook Pro fans run almost constantly, while my previous 2009 MacBook Pro fans seldom ran. Why is that?
I had to chuckle, because many MBP users actively seek out applications to make the fans run more often and more vigorously. It seems that early models of MBP would quietly cook themselves to an early demise. You should follow Ted James\' advice regardless - it\'s easy to do and worth doing whether that\'s your problem or not. However, I had a similar problem with my MBP and found that it was a browser plug-in that was the CPU and running the system hot. If it\'s a software package making your mac run hot, that\'s a little more tedious to troubleshoot, but still pretty simple. First - try this simple step: While your mac is running the fans (misbehaving) start the Activity Monitor app - which is in your Utilities folder. If you prefer to use LauchPad to start applications, then you may need to look for "other" start typing "activity" in the search box, b/c the utilities are not shown by that name in some newer OS X releases. Once Activity monitor is running, select the CPU "tab" at the top or bottom of the app. Now you should be able to see how busy your system is in a moving graphic at the bottom center of the app. If your CPU is running at nearly full capacity, have a look at the column called % CPU. If the process name a the top of the list is contributing the majority of your % CPU, then that is the candidate for an errant application overheating your Mac. I\'ve attached a screen shot of Activity Monitor working on a quite system with almost no activity.
It should be obvious, but the next thing to try is to exit or kill that application and see if that allows the fans to spin down.Hope that helps.
My screen has gone black on my macbook
- Disconnect any devices connected to the computer including printers, hubs, and third-party keyboards or mice, and test the computer again by trying to turn it on.
- Press the control key, the command key, and the power button simultaneously and hold for three seconds to try to restart the computer.
If that does not work :
Reset the PRAM and NVRAM
- Shut down the computer.
- Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
- Turn on the computer.
- Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
- Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
- Release the keys.
Your computer's PRAM and the NVRAM are reset to the default values. The clock settings may be reset to a default date on some models.

How to factory restore my macbook without disk?
If you held the 'option' key during power up and then selected the recovery icon, you will have come up to the utilities screen. From that screen you can choose 'Reinstall OS X', but you need to be connected to the internet to do this.
If you connect via WiFi, then in the top right corner there should be a WiFi symbol, clicking on it will allow you to connect to a WiFi network.
How to i eject a disk from my mac computer
I'm thinking it is working normally, so you can either:
1) Select the disk (or open a folder inside that disk) and press Command+E and that should EJECT the disk.
2) Drag the disk to the trash
If the computer is not ejecting the disk after that then you have a problem with the hardware. The next step would be trying to eject it while restarting.
