This download window can not exactly be disabled. It is part of safari and shows up to show you your downloads. Problem with this is that a lot of the downloads on a mac disappear from this window as soon as they finish downloading. If you were to download a larger file you would notice that it shows the download while it is being downloaded.
That being said, there is a way to have this window close after a certain delay. SafariStand is an application that should be able to help you with this problem. It does some other things as well you might find interesting. Give it a try to fix your issue though.

If You Have Problems Creating a Partition If you have problems creating a Windows partition, check the following: * The disk must be a single partition, formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If the disk already has more than one partition, you must repartition it. * The disk must be an internal disk. When does it freeze exactly? When you are running an app or is it a sleep/awake failure? Without knowing this, I will suggest the following: Start by making sure you have the latest software updates. After that, go into your Applications, then Utilities and click on Disc Utility Click on your drive then click on Repair Disk Permissions. I hope this helps stop the freezing.

Go to closest Apple Retailer fixer. A tech maybe able to flash recover your systems data. Being backed up will help. This may not be as painful as it looks. Make the call.

Are you at home, or at work? Sounds like a firewall issue. Try the Macbook at another location so you can see if it's at the PC level, or the router level. Maybe explain what happens when you try to go there...do you get any errors in your browser, or does it just not load the page, or what? Try turning off your security software for a minute to isolate.

The unit is fubar and needs to be replaced since repair is not cost effective.. You might open up unit to see if there is any debris in the path of the tray that could be interfering in its operation. If all is ok,time to go shopping.
