GE Profile WPXH214F Questions & Answers
Wpxh214foww not spinning dry
If your washer is not spinning your clothes dry, it can be a couple of things.
Firstly, it's possible that you have to re-balance your washer. Just lift it up in front a couple of inches (or push it back to tilt) and let it slam down to the floor. You may need to do this several times. Or you might need to just re-balance your washer load.
I've found that sometimes, if you have uneven weight clothing in the machine, such as jeans and socks together, the heavier items don't get spun out. This happens a lot when there is heavy items in there, so just try to not mix those. Also, I notice with mine, that it wouldn't spin things dry enough on my mild settings if I had a heavy item loaded in it, so I would re-spin it on heavy load setting. This worked for a while but it eventually stopped altogether. My machine was doing this more and more, until finally it gave out and wouldn't spin at all. Turned out I needed a new spinning switch. Went to my nearest appliance repair store and bought it for about $35.00. Was an easy to do fix, and cheap too. Took about 20 minutes from start to finish.
Store told me that this switch gives out on washing machines quite often and people don't realize they don't need to go out and buy a new machine. (which I hope you didn't yet )
And too...when you have your machine lying down to change the switch, you'll be able to find any lost socks in there at that time !! Occasionally, that's the problem too.
Good luck with your repair project. I hope your machine gets working again soon.

GE Profile washer. The door will not lock.
The door doesn't lock either due to a broken door strike or the door lock/switch assembly is faulty. But a diagnostic test can be done depending on the model of the machine to determine what really the problem is. Please indicate the exact model number of the machine for the diagnostic procedure and door lock/switch assembly replacement procedure if the diagnostic test result requires.

I have a GE profile frontload washer that makes
Remove the front cover with a putty knife placed under the top of the front lid and pressing back on the left and right retaining springs.
Lift the front cover off the bottom retainer tabs.
Behind the motor you will see a counter weight being held by 1 bolt. The bolt has vibrated loose and needs to be tightened to hold the weight in a fixed position. I pulld the counter weight as far froward and guessed at what I thought was straight and tightened the bolt.
Run a short drain and spin cycle to see if everything seems balanced. If not to your satisfaction then readjust the weight. It may take a few times to get it right but it a hell of a lot better than paying a coulpe of hundred dollars to a repairman
I am unable to unlock
You need to PUSH IN the program knob (top right) (pointing it to a dot between programmes to be sure but that might not matter) and wait for a minute.

Washer wont run or drain
hi friend,
step 1
Check to make sure that the lid locks properly upon closing. You can do this by closing the lid and listening for an audible "click." If you don't hear one, you may need to replace the latch.
Step 2
Pull the washing machine out from the wall.
Step 3
Remove the draining pipe that runs from the back of the washing machine and into your drain by unscrewing the square panel that holds it in place.
Step 4
Tip the drainage pipe into a bucket. If nothing comes out, you have a blockage.
Step 5
Push an unbent clothes hanger into the tube. Try to force any obstruction through the pipe, or try and hook it and pull it out. It is most likely a small item of clothing, a hairpin or some other small obstruction.
Step 6
Drain the tube into the bucket when you've removed the blockage.
Step 7
Screw the panel back onto the back of the washing machine.
jQuery('.article ol .image').each(function(i,e){
var $this = jQuery(this);
$this.find('img').error(function(){
jQuery(this).remove();
$this.remove();
});
});

GE WASHER MODEL GFWH1200HOWW RUNNING EXTRAAA LONG ON WASH CYCLES??
Hello Heather
Good to see you again.
Also check the small strainers on the water connectors. They can block up with limescale and debris. While the connectors are off, turn on the water into a bucket or a sink. You should have a VERY powerful jet of water. Anything that will reduce flow will lengthen the fill time and therefore to total wash time due to fill and rinses. When it pumps out, also check you have good flow in the drain hose and items can jam in the ridges and catch lint enough to block them almost completely.
One clever thing to do is whilst the water inlet connectors are off, unlock the drain hose, unhook the part that makes the hook, put the round connector in the hose and wrap a tea towel around it. Get someone to turn the water on full bore whilst you are gripping the two hoses together. Run it for a full minute. Water will be flushed into the machine through the pump in reverse. Put everything back and run a rinse and spin with nothing in it, look at all the black lint that is pumped out! I did that once at work and found an apple stalk that had lodged across the ridges of the drain hose which had 90% blocked the pipe.

Stripped connection at the cold water intake into washing machine
If your inlet valve itself is stripped then you have to replace the valve. The plastic thread is part of the inlet valve. If its only the screen in your inlet valve you can remove the screen and replace it. However if you crossthread anything plastic it HAS to be replaced.
If you give me your model number of the washer usually the wpl 4318046 can be used as an inlet valve which is a cheaper alternative than your local parts distributor would tell you. GE parts on avg are 30% more expensive than anything else. On ANY ge appliance there is usually a way around there replacements with some minor altercations. I wish this site had a way you could contact me directly. I just joined so am not an expert yet but ive done my time in the field. If i could give you any expert advise its DONT BUY GE, OR LG.
Let me know if this helps.
