No hot water supply

If you have the Hot Water open at the outlet and you know for certain water flows from the source to the washer; then a Valve is not opening into the washer. The valve is controlled by the washers circuit board. This solenoid is electrically activated upon command, and if that instruction gets to the valve it should open and close. Failure could be either the Valve or the Command Center.

Maytag washer will hum but not start

It may have tossed the drum off the rollers. To fix this, you need to take a look at the drum rotation assembly (the rollers that hold the tank you put your clothes in viewed from the outside after removing the back cover) that could be a combination of fan belts and rollers or just rollers that are engaged to spin or agitate the wash cycles. I had the same problem and had her back in line in about 30 minutes of taking the back off, figuring out why it wouldn't spin and setting it back on the caster rollers to function. It's pretty easy to see, good luck!

I have a leak in the outer tub under the transmission

When you must fix a leaking water pump on your Amana washer, you only have two possibilities--removing the obstruction within the pump ports causing a clog, or replacing the entire pump. The water pump connects under the motor in the front of the washer. Remove the motor assembly to gain access to the mounting bolts for the water pump. No repairs other than removing an obstruction are possible.

Remove Water Pump:

1.Unplug the Amana washer power cord from the wall outlet. Turn off the water supply at the spigots on the wall.

2.Remove the screws securing the lower access panel to the front of the washer with a nut driver. The screws are on the bottom edge of the access panel near the floor. Pull the access panel away from the washer. Remove the screws securing the front panel to the washer with the nut driver. The screws are on the bottom of each side of the front panel.

3.Place a shallow container under the right side of the water pump where the hoses connect to the pump. Loosen the clamps on both hoses with a Phillips-head screwdriver and pull the hoses off the water pump ports. Lay the ends of the hoses into the shallow container to catch any residual water.

4.Inspect the inside of the water pump ports. Often a sock or other piece of small clothing will find its ways to the water pump port. When this fabric clogs the port, the water will leak around the pump. Remove the obstruction and reassemble the washer. If there is no obstruction, the pump must be replaced.

5.Grab the top of the idler spring that connects to the motor and the edge of the tub with your fingers. The spring is on the left side of the motor. Pull up on the spring to unhook it from the tub. Reach your hand under the left side of the motor and roll the belt off the large pulley.

6.Locate the wiring harness on the left side top of the motor. Grasp the end of the harness connector and pull the harness away from the motor. Remove the bolts securing the motor bracket to the bottom tub flange with a socket wrench.

7.Pull the motor assembly out of the washer. The water pump mounts to the bottom of the motor assembly. Turn the motor assembly upside-down so that the pump is facing you. Notice the configuration of the washer belt around the motor pulley. You'll reinstall the belt exactly as it is now.

8.Remove the bolts securing the water pump to the motor with a socket wrench and lift the pump off the motor.

Install Water Pump:

1.Position the new water pump over the motor assembly. The belt should go around the rear pump leg. Secure the pump to the motor assembly with the retaining screws.

2.Turn the motor assembly over and set the assembly into the washer. Secure the motor assembly to the washer tub flange, using the retaining bolts. Only hand-tighten the securing bolts at this time.

3.Reach under the motor toward the tub and position the belt around the large pulley. Hook the idler spring to the bottom of the tub. Tighten the motor securing the bolts to the tub flange with the socket wrench.

4.Push the wiring harness connector back over the motor terminal on the left side of the motor. Push the two pump hoses over the water pump ports and secure the hoses with the retaining clamps.

5.Position the top of the front panel under the top panel edge and secure the bottom of the front panel to the sides with the retaining screws. Place the lower access panel into position and secure with the retaining screws. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet and turn on the water supply.

I was not getting any cold water to my washing

Ok, generally, the issue will be between the valve, or the main control sector. You have replaced the valve, so the only component that can cause this will be the actual main control sector. The control sector can be a timer module, or a control board. I recommend to replace the control sector, asap. The price range for this type of control device will be around the $195.00 mark. Possibly less, depending on where you purchase the device,

My washer (ALW880QAW) agitates but does not spin.

That is the drive coupler and it has worn out. You can order a replacement set that comes with two plastic retaining pieces that slide onto both your transmission and engine and also a rubber piece that goes in between these two plastic pieces. You can search many places to find out how to replace this part. I just ordered a set and shopped around a bit and mine was $20 after shipping.
