Ducane 30400042 (LP) Questions & Answers
When I try to start
It sounds like something got disconnected between your gas line and your venturi (which deliver gas to your burners. Take out the grills and whatever holds your rocks or ceramic briquettes and look at the connection where the flame is coming from. It may be obvious what has come apart, and the fix may be as simple as pushing it back together.
Convert gas grill natural
ducane will not make these available anymore because the ducane family no longer owns the company and the models since 2007 are all made in china with poor quality controls. conversions are simple but the parts will not come through ducane or weber. replace the orifice in the tip of every control valve and replace the regulator. that is the only difference in fuel types.
Need to replace hose and gas regulator
Take the old one off,it just unscrews,at the grill and then remove it from the bottle.Bring the hole thing with you to purchase a replacement, just to make sure you get the right size.
Recently replaced all 5 burner
Gerald, when you turned the gas tank valve back On, after replacing the burner, the OPD Valve in the grill tank partially locked up the grills gas regulator. To solve this problem, follow the steps below:
1. Turn the gas valve OFF and disconnect the hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes.
2. Reconnect the hose to the tank and open the tank valve VERY, VERY, SLOWLY (Slow motion,
slow).
3. Once the valve is fully open, light the burner farthest from the grill first and turn it to HIGH. Does
the flame height look correct for the highest setting? If so, light the remaining burners the same
way. Now, to all the flame heights look normal for the highest setting. if so, you solved the
problem.
4. Close the hood/lid of the grill and allow it to preheat for at least 15 minutes. The temperature
reading (if your grill thermometer is correct) should between 400 & 450 degrees F, depending on
outside air temperature. Which is hot enough to sear a steak.
If none of the above corrected the problem. You will need to replace the grill's Hose/Regulator Assembly, because the regulator is partially locked up. You can pickup one at any home center or hardware store that sell gas grills and accessories for about $30.00. Take your old one with you for comparison purposes.
Hope this helped you to troubleshot and solve the problem. Happy Grilling!!
Need to replace burner tubes on a Ducane grill.
First call Weber to receive the Warrenty burners for free. Have model and serial numbers ready. They can be found on one of the doors. Here is what I did for my Ducane model 30400042.
Remove the grates and burner heat deflectors. There are 4 screws on the knob panel, 2 on the left and 2 on the right. Remove the screws and pull back about a inch or two. I found it helpful to open all the doors a bit to rest the panel on them. The burners should remove easily once this is done. Replace the burner tubes and be sure tubes have holes facing up on the one side for correct heat distribution. When placing the knob panel back on, make sure that burner tubes go onto the gas control knob correctly. Replace screws on the knob panel.
****Get a wire brush about the size of a tooth brush to clean the starter, the thing that makes the spark to start the flame.****
How do I change the burners
The old burners should lift out. Sometimes there are clips on the back of the burners to hold them in place during transport. Sometimes you can get the clips off, sometimes you have to break them off. Carefully lift out the old burners and be sure the new burners are "seated" properly over the valves to prevent flash back.
