Definitely sounds like a relay... How old is your unit? Sometimes they get stuck and need a good cleaning with DeOxit. Good luck!

  1. Turn on the device you wish to program
  2. Point the remote control at the device

  4. Without releasing the selected mode key, press and hold the OK key simultaneously

  6. Enter 922 by pressing the number keys on the remote control -The selected mode key will flash twice indicating correct entry (for anything other than AUX go to step 7, for the AUX mode searching only, press and release the play key then press 1 for VCR 2 for Receiver/Tuner 3 for Amplifier or 4 for Home Theater In The Box (HTIB) - The AUX mode keys will flash twice indicating correct entry)

I have a yamaha htr-5940 and have hooked my PS3

get into the menu of the receiver and find "input settings" look for "audio" and set it to "auto" If it still has no audio, put it on the input it needs to be "DTV" "Aux" etc. then press input mode on the remote. It should say "auto" or "digital" if so, pull the optical off the back of the receiver and make sure you see a red glow. That let's you know a signal is present. If it's not, get into the menu of the PS3 and find the audio section and set it to Dolby Digital. If you still have an issue, post a comment and I will help you further. Hope this helps

Evaluate the source for why the "3 left" speakers (whatever that means) don't work for program material.

Is it possible to listen to music content from my

Of course it is possible and very easy. Connect a cable with two RCA at one end and one 3,5mm jack at the other end like this

between your imac and your Yamaha. In details you have to connect the 3,5mm jack at the audio out of the imac
technical114_4.jpg
and the two RCA jacks at any free line level audio in at your Yamaha (like aux, tuner, cd etc)

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer. If you didn't get the connections that I described above, ask me to create a diagram for you.

Power does not come on

Check your wall outlets and see if you blew a breaker.(plug something else there and see if it powers that on) If not that I hope you only blew the fuse inside of the receiver. That would be an easy fix. Hope this helps!
