I am unable to illuminate my Hand Control, either

Get a new hand controller cable. They fail regularly. If it still does not work then it is a problem with the hand controller or the internal circuit board.

If after you replace the cable it still does not light up-- borrow a hand controller and see if it works with a different controller. Beyond that you must return the scope to Celestron for repair.

New batteries put in....It doesn't power up

Are you SURE you installed the batteries correctly? I once installed them with ONE battery reversed. !

Jiggle the cable to the hand controller, you might just have a bad cable. You can buy a new one from Celestron.

If you can get a 12 volt power pack and the proper power cable or the 110 volt power pack-- try it on direct power. If this is a new scope I would return it to the deal if these simple fixes do not work.

Just got a celestron nextstar 5

You are NOT in focus. You are seeing the central obstruction in the lens on the front of the tube. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. Go outside during the daytime and practice focusing on a distant object.

Once you are focused properly you can see the obstruction.

Read my GOTO scope TIps on my profile page.

The pointer don't works, don't turn on. Where

This has a battery inside -- replace the battery. If the actual ON OFF switch is broken it's not worth fixing. You can buy a new one here--

I have a celestron nexstar 5 the begins to move on it own

Many times a bad cable will cause this. Also low batteries can cause this.

Contact Celestron and order a new cable. Use an external 12 volt power pack.

The azimuth adjustment keys don't work

Send it back along with the hand controller describing the problem. Could be several things including a bad hand controller. If there is a local astronomy shop nearby take the scope there and ask to try one of the hand controllers in the shop and test it. If it now works you just need to buy another hand controller.

Otherwise send it in for repair

Black spot in the center of the image viewed in telescope

If this is a Newtonian reflector or a catadioptric scope (Schmidt Cassegrain or Maksutov) you may be trying to use it at too low of a magnification. Your magnification needs to be high enough that the exit pupil is less than 5 mm; to figure this divide the focal length of the eyepiece by the f-ratio of the optical tube. If this quotient is 5 mm or more the black spot you are seeing is the shadow of the secondary mirror.

Focus knob turns but nothing moves

The Celestron manual for this scope has nothing to say, but on the underside of the focuser assembly, between the 2 focus knobs, you may see 2 screws. They might be thumbscrews or some other screwhead type. One is the adjustment for the focuser internal clearance, or looseness, and the other is a focus travel lock.If present, try backing both off 1/2 turn from tightness, and then experiment to see which is which. The focus lock will have no effect until tight, when the focuser will cease moving, as is now. The other screw will gradually remove looseness and rattle from the focuser until it just moves smoothly, with no back and forth loose feeling at the knob.If neither of these screws is visible you will have to take it to a binocular and telescope shop, where they should not charge much.

What is the weight of the celestron next star se 8

It is impossible to assess the weight (or more correctly Mass of a star, as weight is a perceived function of Earth's gravity) without knowing the chemical make up of the star. That is why astronomers use the star's measured albedo to qualify and quantify them.
