Batteries can be rebuilt. Go to interstate battery, but to be honest I found it cheaper to buy a new one on e-bay.

I'd try to remove the spool to see if the cord is out. The cord may also not be wound on the spool correctly. I try to keep tension on the cord as I replace the spool to keep the cord from unraveling.

Go to Black and Deckers website. You can download an instruction manual under their parts and service tab. You need to know your model number.

Belt came off so and I couldn't see the part that seem to be missing that kept the belt on. A nut, bolt and a wash sorted it for me. Fitted to the small drive cog. Simples. When dismantling - remember there is a screw under the sticker!

Rewind your string in the opposite direction than it is wound now.
If it is wound in the wrong direction it will cause the line to continue to feed out.

Open the unit up (six cross-head screws). Inside you'll find a 12V 5.0AH rechargeable battery, like the kind used in many home alarm systems.
You can get a replacement at most battery stores (they'll even pre-charge it for you). Somewhere around $20, I guess.
