Hi, Well if you have deleted the songs you can not recover them in any way.What you can do is to upload new songs through your PC to your MP3 player.

Rip the dvd's to your computer using a dvd-r drive, use the converter on the installation cd thats included and convert them to the right format, locate your file and drag it into your mp3's correct folder [My Computer]

Try Google the Internet for USB cables. You need to make sure you get the correct connector that matched you MP3 player.

Not owning the specific model, I can't be sure, but I believe there is no button rather there is a place in the menu that should reset all of the defaults if it is similar to mine, if you can't find it let me know and I will try and figure it out for you

Now, grab the USB cable for your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player and connect the player to your computer.2 Wait for your computer to find and recognize the player. This may take a few moments. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the software that came with the MP3 player. If that does not work, try plugging in the MP3 player before you boot the machine up, then boot it. If the machine won't then boot up, it could be because it's trying to read the device as a hard drive. You'd then need to change the boot settings on your machine, or atleast check them over. Thats happened to me before.
