My phone says i have a sim lock, so i cannot make calls.
Call your carrier tell your carrier's customer service representative that you're traveling abroad and want to use a foreign carrier's Sim card If they don't give you the code, stick by your guns and ask for a manager.

Sound
I just fixed mine. No ring or external sounds following a short drop. Found a loose internal header on the back, right side of the phone.
Remove back.
Remove battery.
Remove SIM.
Remove 4 screws (note will void warranty)
Starting from top, carefully de-attach rear plastic cover.
Inspect. Header on right side as you look at the back of the phone has black/white wire going to speaker.
Reattach.
Re-install in reverse order.
Crazy phone still works great!

Memory card is showing as not installed
possible dirty contacts in the phone where the card inserts blow it out with a computer cleaner to clean the contacts if it still dose not recongnize then the slot is damaged!

My htc 8525 screen keeps going white
9 times out of 10, this means that the rigid flex cable has gone bad - this is the cable that goes from the thicker part of the case (the part the battery is in) to the thinner part, which houses the LCD. If you're handy, you can purchase tools kits and replcaement cables on Ebay...but if you're not, there are also SERVICES on ebay which will do this for a fee.

Phone doesn't ring & won't record or play back messages
Not sure what solved the problem, but I went through all the windows sounds, testing each one to see if it played. After doing that, the ring tone was restored and everything back to normal. I hope this can work for someone else with the same problem.

8525 Keeps going from Landscape to portrait for no reason
the switch is actually caused by a magnet, automatic switching can be caused by the sliding screen becoming loose. one of the most common causes of the screen auto-switching is using a phone holder with a magnetic flap like many new holders have instead of a velcro flap.
maybe this is happening to you?

8525 phone
I don't think anyone here can give you a sim unlock code. Unless you want to pay for it you can buy from ebay.

Run this unlocker on your phone. Follow the instructions exactly. Don't
unlock the CID unless you planning on installing another custom rom
other than ATT on it.
