Feature Transfer Error

Just bought a Toshiba Satellite (Vista installed) for daughter. Don't like Norton so I removed it and went to install Panda. Have used for years without a problem. Installed just fine on other computer running Vista ....but this one gives me the following error...

feature transfer error

Feature: NT
Component: residente ficheros NT PAV
File: C:\windows\system32\PAV\
Error: Access is denied

Any ideas?

Go into safe mode, edit the registry and remove all Panda entries. Also go into Configuration and uncheck Panda to startup if checked.
Try running the software while in safe mode and it gives a message that another software installation is detected and will be removed on startup, you'll know you need to find and remove files. It did not remove those mentioned above.

This has been a common windows issue. I'm sure that this will solve your problem. You can go to this link, http://tinyurl.com/toshibadvd, download the registry file and run it. After that, just restart your computer and it should be good to go.

If you're not sure and is worried about security since this is messing with the registry, you can just click on this microsoft link where it explains and gives you detailed instructions on how to manually edit the registry and fix the problem. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929461.

This is typically the same thing, the first one is just a shortcut on how to do it. Just a reminder, EDIT THE REGISTRY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

well i had the same error on my toshiba...i spent literally 56 sleppless hours on the problem after giving up on the last 48 hour stint about 3 weeks ago...i installed a freash copy of xp...then used gparted live cd (linux small distro for partitioning hdds)to make a 10 gig partition in ntfs format....then i searched tiny vista and downloaded the torrent....that error is another way of saying you have messed up your bootmgr for vista..and it could have been a ton of things that did ruined it but none the less...after the torrent was downloaded (i know its not a legal copy but i used it just to fix my bootmgr) it has something to do with the way it sets up vista premium on your hard drive that fixes the boot problem.....and befor anyone says theres other ways to do it.....this is for extreme cases were you cannot afford a new hard drive and cannot get your factory install cd's to fix the problem ..... this is worth a shot in any case. .....forgot to mention that i used my windows xp partition to firstly download dvd decrypter and a copy of tiny vista (for you that dont know tiny vista fits on a 700mb cd and is remastered to install on its own with no help from you what so ever...then when i suggest deleting it from your hard drive and installing your own vista copy because after all all you needed to do was fix the boot... again..this is the only thing that worked for me other than buying a new hard drive i tried 30 different things and i garuntee i have heard it all..it was by accident that i found out this would fix the problem with oem instalations

Error code 10 XXXXXXX is related to hardware. It is default code generated by device manager when the operating system failed to determine which specific error code to return after an error occurs.
Error code 10 error pertains mainly to hardware issues and to compatibility issues between hardware and the software.
To troubleshoot the code 10, go to control panel>system> device manager and check if any of the hardware display a yellow “!” or a red “stop”.
1). Update the hardware device driver from either Microsoft or device vendor web site.
If the device is preinstalled on the computer, visit the computer manufacturer’s website.
2). Make sure the device is enabled in the computer BIOS. You need the system documentation, if you don’t know how to do it.
3). Disable any advanced feature of the device.
4). Install the most up to date service pack and any other updates.

Freeze when power cord plugged in

I've got an almost exactly the same problem, "almost" in that:

1) My laptop is A205-S5812,
2) The computer doesn't boot at all on AC, and on battery power it freezes immediately when the power cord is plugged in.

That's to say, after pressing the power button I can hear the fan, HDD and DVD drive starting up, but nothing else; strangely enough - the DVD drive still does open and close, as well as react when a disc is inserted. And when the power cord is plugged into a running computer, the screen immediately freezes and no input seems to be accepted except hard shutdown.

In other words, I'm down to using the laptop on battery power; however, the battery seems to charge properly at least when connected to AC.

Actually, I'd noticed the problem with booting on AC several times before; however, after a couple tries the machine would eventually boot, and there were no problems at all when plugging the power cord in or out while the computer was running.

I'm pretty sure this isn't an OS related problem, as I can't even get as far as the Toshiba splash screen, go into BIOS configuration or boot from a CD; in fact, I have Debian GNU/Linux installed on the laptop. I suspect it could be related to hardware wear, since my laptop did overheat a couple times before I gave it some cleaning up...

Anyways, I suppose this won't be fixed without a visit to service; I'm pretty sure my warranty has expired already, so I'd like at least to vaguely know what to expect, i.e. how much cash/downtime...

the problem is in the battery of your laptop.
change the battery of your laptop.

to make this shure, just remove the battery from laptop and turn on power through adapter only. it will work fine.

Seems that your browser's configuration is messed up by something else if you did not reconfigure it manually. This may be caused by a toolbar installed or a malware. What browser are you using? Are you using the same browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, etc) with your family? If you, check their browser's configuration against yours and see which one is different. Your browser should copy the settings of their functional browsers.

To check in Firefox:
1. Click Tool menu.
2. Click Options
3. Click the Advanced category (group)
4. Click the Network tab
5. Click the Settings button under the Connection group
6. Make sure "No proxy" is selected

In Internet Explorer:
1. Click Tools menu
2. Click Internet Options (Bottom)
3. Click Connection Tab
4. Click LAN Settings (bottom)
5. Make sure "Automatically detect settings" is checked

If these settings are already set and it is still not working, try to uninstall some "newly installed" browser toolbars or download and install Anti Malwarebytes to remove all malwares in your PC. You can download it free HERE.

Well, to get the operating system back to factory settings and back to its original out of the box state, simply go to 'help' menu under 'start' menu, and type in 'recovery'. Recovery will get the computer back to its original state when you opened the box and powered it up for the first time.
An image of this state is located on the hard drive of the computer.
