Amana ARB2217CSR Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Questions & Answers
Lite bulb in freezer not working, put a new bulb in still not working
Unplug it.
There is usually a switch that gets frozen in the closed (door) position.
Try looking in the freezer, front and center, ceiling area.
If the switch moves easily, then it could be the socket.
If it is iced up, wipe it with a warm wet cloth in the same direction that the door opens and closes to get it to spring back.
Plug it back in.
If that doesn't help post a model # and I'll continue the walk through.
Straining noise when compressor kicks on. About 3 seconds.
How old is the unit? When was the last cleaning performed? Sounds like something got in there or otherwise the fan may be bent or something of the sort. Get in there and try a test to inspect further. hopefully it's just an "adjustment." Best regardsCk
Amana refrigerator bottom freeze is not cooling; about 8 years old; the cooling switch was replaced and still does not cool
Kim pull refrigerator away from wall
and unplug power. Remove lower panel that cover compressor and condenser fan and
condenser coils. Don't wait too long but feel the top of compressor and tell me
if cool, warm or too hot to hold had there. Let me know those results as I
gather up the possible problems that could be related. Did you by chance check
the defrost timer by turning timer through opening below and behind the Control
panel=> ARB2217CSR Control Panel Did you say you changed a switch or
thermostat here? See the defrost timer in photo at location 12? Try turning
clockwise slowly until compressor starts or stops what ever may be happening.
If stuck in defrost the timer part number=> 67001036

Hello; Sorry for the delay in answering, the site did not send me a message telling me that I had a question. My name is Houston and I think I can help you with your problem. From what you said, it could be several difference things, so you will need to do a little troubleshooting to figure out what it could be. I would start by checking and cleaning the condenser grill that is located under the cabinet next to the compressor. What works best is either a flat brush or an air compressor and shop vacuum. Blowing from the rear and vacuuming from the front. Although this is probably not the problem it will help your unit work more efficiently. If the condenser grill is dirty or has a large accumulation of hair balls or dust bunnies the condenser grill can't get rid of the heat build up of the coolant. The next thing you need to check is to make sure the fan is operating and blowing the cold air from the freezer into the refrigerator. It is the fan on the inside of the cabinet. You can check it visually and if it is operating then you should then make sure that the cooling tube is allowing that cold air to enter the refrigerator. If you do not feel a positive air flow into refrigerator when the fan in operating that is a sure sign that the tube has a build up of frost and ice. You can defrost the tube by using a hair dryer, blowing down the tube. If it was not the cooling fan or the cooling tube the last item is the thermostat that is located in the control area of the refrigerator.
