My amana Ars2462b was working fine. Now it flip the breaker as soon as it is plugged in. I tried different outlets but still turn off.

Sounds to me that the compressor has shorted to ground/Burned Out, Thanks John Tripp Appliance 911 Contact Me Here

When I plug fridge in it throws the breaker. It does after or few minutes or sometimes immediately. I tried different outlets and it still happens. Amana Ars2464b

Control board may have a problem or the compressor is leaking out electricity.

Amana refrigerator door clicking

Clicking when the door opens is caused by the cam at the bottom of the door coming loose. It is held in place by a 1/4 in AF self-tapping screw. Re-tightening it might help but the thread inside the door might be stripped so is a bit more difficult - if so fit an over-sized screw and see how it goes.

Frost in freezer

You will need to replace the "defrost thermostat" in the freezer. Remove the back panel where the fan is located and on the coils will be the thermostat. Here is the part to order.

Freezer and frigerator will not get cold

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.

Sounds like the cold control has stuck . Unplug the two wires from the cold control and plug them together. Turn one wire over and plug it into the other. away from the cold control.
The cold control is the knob in the ref that turns it on and off and has numbers on it. (Thermostat)
If it runs then that cold control (Thernostat) is the problem.
If that doesn't work DO THIS:
The relay on the compressor may need replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
also try hooking the two wires together on the cold control to route around the cold control.
Be sure the BACK COVER is in place and hasnt been accidently removed.

Amana sbs ARS8265BS with buzzing

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I understand based on your description you have an Amana ARS8265BS with a "buzzing noise every 3 minutes. The place I would start is as follows, making sure the compressor itself is coming on/operating...and if it is, good, but replace that relay asap.

The important thing you alluded to is the "buzzing"...this is when the compressor is perhaps trying to start.

If you feel like you can trouble shoot further I`ve provided the following info to assist you or you may decide to call a professional appliance technician...it's your call.

I don`t know the age of your fridge, but I should mention...

** Most of the manufacturers of fridges ( including Amana/Maytag....yours ) have 5 to 10 years sealed system warranty which would include the compressor but not the electrical starting devices i.e., the overload & relay. Check your owners manual, it is the ultimate authority on warranty no matter what anyone else tells you according to your manufacturer.**

If you have a multi- meter you can check the compressor to see if the windings are ok.

**First, Unplug the fridge**

Remove the panel at the back down at the bottom. This should gain you access to the compressor.
On the side of the compressor will be the start relay/overload assembly such as this image...it may be enclosed in a black plastic cover as well.

2234770.jpg

Pull off the relay & overload and you'll see 3 pins in the form of a triangle...

ffd3e9e.jpg
With a meter measure between any 2 pins at one time, going between each pin with one remaining on a "common" pin.

You'll want 3 measurement's, similar to this example- 6ohms, 3ohms, and 9ohms.

On some meters you may simply get a reading of "0" ohms, as long as the needle moves off of "infinity" which would indicate an "open" winding = not good !

If following that, the readings are good, purchase a hard start kit. Part # HS410 also known as a 3in1 starter kit.

i.e.

775ec2d.jpg

The above package contains info and hardware on how to connect it.

NOTE : the HS410 ( 3 in 1 ) should be considered just a temporary "fix" as opposed to an actual "repair" in should not be relied on for long term reliability or safety, but rather thefactory replacemnet, double check with your model number.

Hope that help`s move you forward if nothing else. If so please take a second and rate the guidance and a testimony to your inquiry you received here at FixYa, either or all is appreciated.

Let me know if the compressor is indeed operating yet the fridge or freezer fail to cool and I'll continue to help in any manner I can. Good luck

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

I have an Amana Side

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned WARMER WHICH MAKES THE REF COLDER AND VICE-VERSA. SEE?
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
The higher the number you turn it up to is the coldest
But is probably a common defrost problem The ice build up
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

We have an Amana refrigerator,

Hello, Welcome to FixYa. I will start by acknowledging you have an Amana SxS fridge. The symptoms you described and erratic temperatures in general are usually associated with a faulty thermostat or blocked condensor or condensor fan. Having said this, have you confirmed the condensor fan is operating normally ( the one by the compressor, at the back in the bottom...if you remove the cover imsure it is put back as it is a functional part) following that, blow out under the fridge (coils/condensor) with compressed air or vacuum thoroughly. The compressed air method is messy, but the most effective way of cleaning the condensor. Finally, it is possible the compressor itself is inefficient (in fact there are many variables/possible scenarios) and short cycling, low on gas (leak=very bad and expensive) but I would certainly rule out the other possible causes I mentioned and move forward from there. Let me know how you manage or if anything is not clear. Thank you for choosing FixYa and Good luck. Regards, Macmarkus :)

So you are looking at $550 to $650 for a trained technian to replace and charge with freon.

Sorry for the bad news.
