I just got my 5720-4126 so once I had to test the Factory re-install (ALT-F10 at the ACER screen) and knew I could get back to where I started (Vista), tried to install XP from CD. It couldn't even see the disk drive :-(

What happens when you connect a external monitor? Any change? Does the HDD led blink? Is it stuck in boot? Have you tried a System Restore? A System Recovery?

You have to remove the bezel and replace the button, not a recomended task if you don't have any experience opening laptop hardware.

So you must insert windows installation disk and install windows on it.

On many laptops, the touch mouse can be deactivated so that a external mouse can be used. It is typically a 2 key combination using the "function (Fn)" key.

Look for any keys on your laptop that seem to have a little mouse icon and press that key along with the function key.

If this does not resolve the issue ... you can also try an external mouse and see if that moves the cursor.
