Try to uninstall your WiFi-card and reboot, allowing windows to re-innstall. If XP, Right-click on my computer, the properties tab, then periphials, locate your card and uninnstall. Restart. It has helped me before.

Here is your problem pasted again ingluding some of my thoughts. These thoughts and the answers to your questions are in CAPITAL.

Edit your host file

C:/WINDOWS/System32/Drivers/etc

The file is named hosts

Edit with notepad and if you see a line that says

facebook.com 127.0.0.1

Delete it

Reinstalling apps:
1. If in Windows - Start - Programs - Acer empowering technology - Acer E-recovery management -
click on Restore at bottom then "Reinstall apps and drivers" - look for hardware drivers that you
need. Click "install now"

Windows XP is outdated none of driver is supporting now.

you turned off your wireless adapter by accident.. the switch for it is in the top middle of the laptop where the power button is,, the wireless indicator has to be green fr it to be on. The LAN cable is the other type of connecting it supports. like at the side of the device, see that huge over grown phone like jack thingy (rj45 port) thats your lan port. you can connect your modem directly to it :p and thats the cable the pc is referring to..

any way turn on the wifi adapter. there is eighter a switch or button in the middle where the power button is, or a key combination usually FN + one of the function keys,, look at keys F1 - F15 see some icons in blue,, look for w\one with a wireless icon press FN + FX ,, FX being what ever key it is..

now once on the icon appears in the lower right corner of the screen, click it, click connect to a network, select your wireless network, click connect,, enter the key if necessary.. thats it your done..

i must tell u that if u have done all trouble shooting and ur Wireless conn is not func then my friend there is no fault in ur wireless adapter i think the main culprit is dsl hardware this Westell Versalink modem and the lan cable u said is not working in laptop and working on desktop there might be two things why it is not working

1. there are straight and crossed connections in Lan cable Connector may be the coupling is not matching ur Acer Lan port and u are having problems in connecting it.

2. Or ur Lan Adapter is not set properly it needs to be DHCP enabled and set to auto config IP address in the prperties as i said earlier.

for WLAN i am 100% sure if it is not connecting may be ur Modem WIFI module is not functionaing properly and giving u hard time it happens in Power Failure sometimes or surge in the line current.

u shud get it replaced if it was working ok in wireless lan b4 and now it stopped suddenly

hi i have just bought a Acer Aspire 5315 on vista i wanted to put it back to factory reset but it seems that they have taken out the back up to do this can i get a disc from any were or any help i would be most greatful thanks dee

Try This:
To repair your computer using Startup Repair follow these steps:

1. Boot into Vista installation DVD
2. Choose your language settings and click Next
3. Click Repair your computer
4. Choose your operating system and click Next. This should bring up System Recovery Options.
5. Click on Startup Repair

Startup Repair should now start diagnosing your system to identify the root cause of the failure. Once it has identified the root cause, it would automatically start repairing your computer. If you are curious to know what Startup Repair did, you can click on the details link and see which tests Startup Repair ran to diagnose the problem.

Your computer should now be able to boot normally into Vista!

On your list of emails, there should be little boxes. Put your mouse over it and tap it to put a check mark there. You should then see a list of choices such as: Save as New or "Delete'. Select "Delete".

on bootup press f2

not much to do with laptop would guess it to be a problem with your web browser not having Java script

try doing a disc cleanup also a defrag. and get rid of music and pics you dont need anymore. or put more ram in there,

just press the right hand side of your mouse or if its the keypad mouse just press down on the right key just like you would the left key
