REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK

The freezer starts and stops

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.

Sounds like the cold control has stuck . Unplug the two wires from the cold control and plug them together. Turn one wire over and plug it into the other. away from the cold control.
The cold control is the knob in the ref that turns it on and off and has numbers on it. (Thermostat)
If it runs then that cold control (Thernostat) is the problem.
If that doesn't work DO THIS:
The relay on the compressor may need replaced
A relay starts the compressor with a higher voltage and then quickly kicks out
Thats what is happening with yours
Its best for a tech to replace The relay but you can do it
Take your model number to your Local Appliance parts store they will have a diagram
showing you how to install the relay. Its called a hard start relay
also try hooking the two wires together on the cold control to route around the cold control.

My freezer door will not

If your unit has an ice at the door feature, you may need to pull the whole bin out and make sure when you put it back in that you rotate the cork screw inside the bin 90 degrees so it seats properly to the spindle that turns it. I have had that problem after pulling the bin out to retrieve ice by hand ( because my dispenser is excruciatingly slow ), then when you push it back in it does not seat properly to the drive spindle , the whole bin sticks out enough to cause the door not to seat properly and will pop open. Try that. Good luck! George.

I have a problem with the ice maker from an amana

There is a heater element that comes on to slightly melt the cubes from the tray... and let the arm discharge them into the bin.
It might be bad - or the motor for the fingers may be out.

My ice maker is not owrking nor does the door ice

Sounds like the control module has gone u/s or you have a blockage which overloads the motor and causes it to shutdown in order to prevent damage occurring. Check there is no ice jammed in the dispenser and make sure that the water filter is clean and replaced every 6 - 9 months. if not then call a service engineer as either the motor, inlet valve and / or control module will need replacing.

Amana SBD21VE No water to ice maker

your water line to the fridge is most likely leaking. You should turn it off right away. The line turn off is either behind the fridge or under sink. sometimes its in basement. The line is very easy to replace. You can get the plastic ones at home centers for under 5 bucks.

Fridge and freezer same temp.

First of all, there is only one thing that cools in a fridge and that is the freezer. The fresh food section is cooled by air forced into it from the freezer.
  • You ice maker will not work if the temp inside the freezer is above 5 degrees. It has a thermostat inside it that enables it.
  • The knob that turns the fridge off and on is the thermostat for the freezer.
  • The other knob opens and closes a damper between the freezer and fresh food section.
  • There is a fan that should be running that pulls air from the freezer into the fresh food section.
(The factory does make the discription of the knobs confussing)

Now. turn one of the knobs all the way one way and then the next. If it turns the compressor off, it's the thermostat. If it does not, try the other knob. Once you find the thermostat, set it in the middle of the scale. Now place the other knob the same. Check and see if you can either feel or hear the inside fan running. If so lets go to the back. This is where your compressor is. It is under the fridge and also has a fan that blows on it. You will need to remove the back bottom panel. See if you can tell if the fan is running. Also notice if the fan is blowing into a set if coils. You should also be able to fill the compressor, if it's hot, it's running. If these two are running, and you didn't see a coil at the fan. Take the front kick panel off the fridge and clean the coil that's under the fridge. If it's dirty, give the fridge a couple hours and see if it cools down. If so, this was your problem. If both knobs are set mid scale, both fans are running, the compressor is also running and the coils are clean. You most likely have a bad timer, compressor or thermostat. This is all that's left.

Amana bottom freezer has a burning smell coming

Is this burning smell occurring during a defrost? Something, like a food particle or wrappping, could be burning while in contact with the defrost heater. Is the burning smell coming from within the freezer? If it is coming from the outside and back of the box, unplug the box and investigate, or call a technician. You may want to call a technician, anyway? We don't need house fires.

Ice maker stopped working. In door water

Hi TBurl,
Yeah... classic sign of a failed water valve. You need a new one. The part number is D7742204 (<---plug that into a search engine or call a local appliance parts outfit to get one).

Easy to replace... Just pull the fridge out, UNPLUG IT FROM THE WALL, turn the water valve off at the wall, remove the water line from the fridge valve, then remove the 2 screws mounting the valve bracket to the base of the fridge. All you have to do now is remove the electrical connectors and the tubing from the old valve and place them on the new one (making sure to get the wires right, OK?). Now just mount the new valve, reconnect the water, turn the water on and plug it in!

EASY! All in all about a 20 min. job. There ya go! Your fixed. Don't forget to rate this solution, OK? My self-esteem is depending on you. :P

Water in door takes over a minute to BEGIN flowing.

I had the same problem.... Until just one day the water quit working... Always thought it was hard water build up blocking the waterline.... Come to find out several years later all it was, was the dual water valve that had gone bad... I guess they have a censor in them that will either lock open or lock shut.... Mine was locked shut... When I tried to fix the valve myself, by opening it up and blowing air threw it, I locked it open and when I conected it back up to the fridge water was coming out of the door uncontrolably. So I ordered a new water valve.. Replace it myself... Works great now.... Hope this helps...

Amana side by side compressor not running

Cleaning the fins is always good. Is the fan by the compressor running? It needs to help cool the compressor. The description you mention sounds like the compressor is overheated and tripping the thermal overload on the compressor. See if you can turn if off for a day to let it all return to room temp then see if the compressor kicks on. If it was overheated it should run again for a while before overheating again. Let us know how that works and we can go from there.
