I am trying to hook

They print manuals for these things.

Have you looked at them?

The specific products you're inquiring about are not showing in your post. Name the makes AND models first, then we'll look for the manuals. Then (maybe) find a solution. You might find it them the manufacturers' support sites or these guys...

retrevo.com
audio.manualsonline.com
hifiengine.com
usermanualguide.com
vinylengine.com
Google search: "(product) manual"

The standard color codes for analog audio are Red/White = Right / Left; Yellow = Composite Video.

Single coaxial or optical SPDIF cable = digital stereo or multichannel audio

Red/Green/Blue = Hi-Def component video

HDMI can carry multichannel digital audio and Hi-Def video from a source to a TV

The remote will not work

Try this advice:

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved

How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control

This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!

-----------------------------

Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.

Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!

Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.

(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)

Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.

New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.

Step 5- Try the remote.

Special Note:

If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.

If it works, Great!

If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.

Find new or replacement remotes:

http://remotes.com/store/codes_original.html

or eBay: search for "(model) remotes", check the 'include description

Resetting won't solve your problem. The display is telling you there has been some internal damage ( most probably output stage ) and needs fixing. The system goes into protection mode to prevent further damage.

If you look at this image: http://i.testfreaks.co.uk/images/products/600x400/251/toshiba-regza-32c3030d.3770363.jpg
The back of your tv should be similar to this (I couldn't find an exact one, but it should be very similar). You want to plug in your audio cables into the red and white plugs at the bottom right, and then into your surround sound. This should work (assuming they are the same layout).
If they are different, try and find a set of red and white plugs that say "Audio out" and "L + R" or something similar to that. These plugs will work.

You can test your webcam by clicking the shortcut on your desktop or by using video call on yahoo messenger or using skype software. The mic is on because

hi,
in the bottom right hand corner, there should be an icon that looks like a speaker. left click it and display the "mixer" style control panel. When opened there should be a series of faders (sliders) with titles either above or below each fader. Click on the box that says "mute". Your microphone should now be muted and the feedback problem cured. Don't forget to unmute the mic again if you use it.
