Frozen water on the bottom of frezzer
Hi there, it sounds like the freezer needs to be unplugged and defrosted, now if it does this automatically which some do and the ice water that was frozen goes through a pipe and out through waste water outlet, after it is completely defrosted you should turn down the freezer dial by at least one digit and keep a check on this to make sure that its not over freezing and causing this problem, on some models the automatic defrost does not work as it should , and even when they do work it is not defrosted enough , so do it manually for a perfect job, note that any food that is in the freezer can be wrapped in news papers while the work is been done , they will be well frozen for the time it takes to defrost , you can speedup the defrosting with a bowl or pot of boiling water placed in the bottom of freezer, make sure that the water outlet is not blocked with food debris..hope this will be of some help to you.cassyjoe.
Filter change
didnt post the model number, but a general rule of thumb is the filter is in top right section of refrig compartment, a counter-clockwise turn will unscrew and rescrew the new one in
Frozen evaporator coil
if the evaporator coil is frozen over, then most likely the defrost terminator is bad its located on the top of the evaporator coil and is about 1" round,to test it it needs to be below 15 degrees as this is a bi-metal switch operated by temperature,it will show close to zero ohms when its cold if its good, otherwise the defrost heating element can be open its located under the evaporator coil, but its a calrod element and they usually dont go bad,you can check this with an ohmmeter also and will have anywhere from 20 to 75 ohms,if these are both ok,then the defrost timer or ADC automatic defrost timer can be bad depending on which system your unit incorporatesl
I get water (ice) in
Is this a NEW refrigerator? If so then you have a valid warranty service request.
If it is not, there are 2 things that cause ice build up:
1. The ice maker water valve leaking by when the water valve is supposed to be closed.
You can prove this by doing the following:
a. Ice maker OFF
b. Remove the plastic line on the back of your unit at the rubber water fill tube connection. Place it in a bucket over night or for a day. If there is ANY water in the bucket the water valve is allowing water to leak by when it is supposed to be closed.
The olny remedy is to change the water valve.
2. Te freezer compartment evaporator drain is frozen or clogged. This requires opening up the rear access cover of the freezer to clear a clog. If you just suspect ice build up you can empty the freezer compartment and place a fan blowing into the freezer compartment for over 2 hours to melt the ice in the evaporator drain.
If you need assistance with parts or anything else just respond here and I will gladly help you. I do ask that you include your model number in any future post so that I can pass you links and data applicable to your exact unit.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
