no yr battery should be fine but i would try a restore as it may b an update that has caused the problem give it a try and see how it goes

It's fried, you might as well buy another motherboard or new computer. Liquid on a motherboard shorts it out.

check all leads from motherboard to hard drive including electrical and all of your cd/dvd drives make sure the connections are good and not faulty and there is no dust built up on them make sure your computers ram modules are securely seated with no dust in the sockets also the Cmos battery has charge and seated with no dust in the sockets could be a memory dump you might be running to many programs at the one time placing to much strain on the CPU you might not have enough RAM random access memory or to find out what the problem is restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell you if and what file has been corrupted or missing then you will know if its a hardware issue if you need more help with this post a reply hope this helps you

try uninstalling a few unnecessary programs then click start run type cmd then type chkdsk/r/f which will scan for and attempt to fix any bad sectors and automatically fix any corrupt files on your hard drive this will schedule on a restart then defragment your hard drive or

click start control panel administrive tools,computer management ,disk management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start tick in both boxes automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in both boxes then select check now,start should schedule this task when restart

do not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage your computer

then click start all programs accessories system tools defragment your hard drive

Probably the battery. Easiest way to check is first disconnect from internet, then check date in xp, if says year 2000, your bios has been reset to default, probably from dead battery. Check by unplugging computer and pressing power button 2 or 3 times, then remove button battery and move pins to clear cmos, after 10 seconds, replacd pins and reinstall battery. Bios should then boot to default settings. In General tab, set correct date. If xp still shows incorrect date, you have a dead battery.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this right click to install driver also click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers select appropriate speakers also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have made the correct adjustments there click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can make adjustments there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar hope this helps
