Bissell 3576 CleanView II Bagless Upright Vacuum Questions & Answers
Bissel Vaccum giving a foul odour
Hi - here are a few tips!
If the filters are washable they have to be dried completely before putting back into the machine, otherwise you're damaging your vacuum by putting in damp filters which won't do much but put back the stale smell into the home. Generally washing filters should be done with a little washing up liquid, washed out, rinsed, drip dry and dried over 24 hours to room temperature naturally (not on a radiator or heater).
Faster drying should employ the use of a low temperature tumble dryer with the filters placed in a pillow case with a towel added to prevent banging off the sides of the electric dryer when in operation.
Also, whilst the filters are drying take off the main hose of the Clearview and wash it out with washing powder with the hose laid in the bath. Alternatively put wet wipes or cleaning wet wipes down the hose with a stick to get out all matter of dirt - clearview hoses are the worst for stinking especially if you have pets. That should improve the general way of your vacuum and giving it a more neutral smell. Also when everything is dried out inclduing the hose, sprinkle some bicarbonate of soda around so that the vacuum picks it up and neutralises previous odours that the vacuum had from the beater bar/floor head.
Troubleshooting
Hi Janet. Thank you for asking this question. Your vacuum wasn't designed with a brush on/off switch so having the brush continually spin is normal for your vacuum.
No suction in upright vacuum.
it could be the filter or on this unit, one of the other 2 filters. The most common overlooked filter on this unit is the filter in the pull out tray under the bagless container. I would suspect that is the culprit cutting off your suction. Pull it out and wash the filter, wash the other 2 filters in your unit as well. Warm water and soap, little bit of bleach to kill the smell and LET THE FILTERS DRY BEFORE PUTTING THEM BACK INTO THE UNIT. I cannot stress that part enough. Good luck!!
My vacuum is not picking up like it sould and the container is empty what should i do
Check to see that the brusk is turning, if not you have a broken belt. You did not say if you were having issues with the hose and attachments, using it to vacuum the floor or both. If both are working less than normally you probably have filter issues, there are four filters on your machine. The Bissell web-site lists those filters and belt.
Why do the belts keep
Hi there,
Well the problem happens due to the belt If the belt not installed correctly, the rubber belt will grate against one of the components in the roller brush housing. The friction of the belt against the housing produces a pungent burning odor. To correct this you need a right belt, each vacuum cleaner manufacturer produces specific belts for specific machines. An incompatible belt installed on the vacuum cleaner will cause the belt to break or burn.
Good Luck!!
Thanks for using FixYa!!
My brush won't rotate. i
The most probable cause is improper tension on the belt. What would cause this problem is the wrong belt, or improper adjustment of belt. Once installed, the belt should only move slightly when pushed down by your finger. Too loose and the belt won't rotate the brush and will quickly burn out. Too tight and it will cause excessive stress on the motor and shorten it's lifespan.
Another problem could be that the belt wasn't centered properly. When the new belt is installed, the brush needs to be manually rotated a few times to center it. This will prevent it from getting caught in or on a part of the power head, thus quickly breaking or melting.
If you still have problems you may need to take it to a reliable service center.
