Geforce 2 MX-400 (64 bit) with vista
Before you installed the Geforce graphics card was your monitor connected to a video output on the motherboard?
If this is he case you may have to disable the onboard video card from the BIOS.
You can check by swapping the monitor's video connector between each of the video outputs.
If Vista detects a video card and you had not installed the video driver, it would install standard VGA driver, you can then install the Geforce driver.
GeForce2 MX400
The geforce2 mx400 is an agp video card. If you want to stick to the same agp slot you don't have many options these days and the prices are very similar to PCIE slots except the PCIE is a newer technology that would provide a lot better performance.
If you can afford it you should upgrade your motherboard to one that support PCIE and then get a good PCIE video card. The best price/performance these days are the 8600GT cards so look into that. The money you save buying a new video card may even contribute significantly to a new motherboard plus you get other benefits with a newer mobo ie. faster ram, SATA technology more usb ports and support for more CPUs.
Just becareful on what CPU you are using at the moment and make sure the new motherboard supports your cpu.
alternatively look for a used agp slot graphics card ie. the ati 9800pro or nvidia 6xxx series is a good choice of a slight upgrade from where you are.
good luck

I have a Gateway LP2417 monitor and there's No sound.Hoe do I fix it,so I can hear the video that is playing?
This monitor may not have built-in speakers. It may have supported Gateway's monitor mounted sound bar. That sound bar connected to the 3.5 mm audio out on a computer and a DIN port on the monitor.
The simplest solution is to connect your source to appropriate speakers. Depending on your audio setup, you could connect the video source to a receiver with HDMI IN and HDMI Out (ARC), computer speakers or an audio extractor. (If you are using an HDMI cable between the Gateway LP2417 and a computer, you may need to reset the audio output to use basic computer speakers (3.5mm jack).) VGA and DVI connections don't support audio so I assume you are using the HDMI port.
I hope this helps.
