Yes, there were and are known issues--"lamp door not properly closed" means that but something else.What happens is door is warped from heat from lamp----with door off set will not function due to the safety switch----want to know if switch/door are the real problem?Engage switch with something not metal and try to turn set on--if it and lamp come on do not look at lamp directly----do not operate with level bypassed and door removed as heat can warp the outer plate if no door.If it comes on door is the problem---look at it edgewise---if warped a little the tab on back of door that engages the lever does not do its job.If does not come on with lever engaged something else is wrong.There was a recall that has ended regarding this---some were so bad they melted the lamp housing and even fused the front door of the lamp to the plastic around it.Let me know what you find.

AKB is auto kine bias---means a problem related to one of the three picture tubes or the boards connected to each---if it showed in error buffer with a number to the right that is the number of times the error has been detected.

Try putting in a DVD or VCR tape..if they don't make any sound either...than you have probably blown an audio board fuse... But I bet that they will have sound which in that case the problem is more than likely the cable ITSELF not the box... the cable that carries the signal your tv has video on one wire and audio on another.. then sheilding etc.. it's probably got a short in audio ( I have seen brand new cables to do this so even if it looks ok try different one.) if that don't work... hook a different tv up at that location and see what happens... and then it's to call cable company to come fix the box which probably blew up scrambler... which would show that the output is working fine but unfortunately your tv is not able to dis cipher the audio because it's a tv not a cable decoding device...I hope that helps you.

A 4 blink error means that you have a fan issue. Make sure fans are not clogged with dust or debree. If fans are free of debree replace the fan that is not spinning. There are 4 fans. 1 on the right. 1 on the left. 1 on the top and 1 on the back behind a metal shield.

This could be a issue in the set or from a box if one is used for signal--try unplugging set, a box if used and a receiver if used for a while---plug back and see if a reboot of the units solves this or not.If the box is used try if it has them the audio/video outs from the box to the rear audio/video inputs on set to see if same issue.

Question is not understood---what exactly are you trying to do?

The set may have more than one fan but---look on the fan as usually the voltage it uses is indicated--if so and removed apply the same voltage to it with it removed--either it runs or not.There should be a service manual available online free for this set--the schematic will show what voltage is used....that error code is just a general indication of what is wrong--if fan not getting voltage, not getting turned on, or bad.

4 Blink 9 out of 10 times is your lamp fan. Check and make sure it clean and free of debrey. Spin it and see if there is any grinding noise. If after you clean and reassemble and the set still shuts down, either replace the lamp fan or check your outher 3 fans as well.

Should be lamp door is not closed---usually means the door is slightly warped from heat.If you follow the procedure to get at the lamp--remove the door and examine it edgewise---if slightly bowed (does not take much) note the plastic peg on the back of the door.When the door is in place the peg engages a tiny lever in an opening behind it---this is to prevent the set from being operated with door off.What I do to prove or disprove this is with door removed use something not metal to engage the lever (push it back) and see if set will come on.If it comes on DO NOT LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE LIGHT WHICH CAN DAMAGE YOUR VISION.DO NOT OPERATE SET FOR PROLONGED TIME WITH DOOR REMOVED AND SWITCH BYPASSED IN THIS WAY.DO NOT PUT OUTER BEZEL BACK WITH DOOR REMOVED AS HEAT FROM LAMP CAN MELT IT ALSO.This will tell you if the door is your problem or not--several class action lawsuits were settled but that has ended now.Let me know if you have questions or need any help.SD TECH

Six times blink is a low B error or 12 volts is not supplied. This is a power supply error or a Faulty thermistor beside lamp compartment.

Important thing here is when it flashes red---it should be a specific number of blinks---that is a error code.Confirm model number and if possible the blink code.

For the most part a ballast is not "fixable" it is sold as a part--complete.Tell me what set is doing including what lights on front on or blinking?If you blindly just want to replace it GOOGLE THE MODEL NUMBER WITH BALLAST to locate the part and price for it.???

If your not sure, google name and make of tv and "red light blinks 6 times". That usually is a code for what is wrong.....My money is on the lamp....especially if it was working fine before. Hope that helps and gd luck to ya
