GE Profile Stainless Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator with Internal Dispenser 22.2 Cu. Ft. - PFS22SIS - Page 6 Questions & Answers
Temperature is reads 73 on freezer and 34 on
It may be vice versa.
You need to check and make sure that the freezer section is 34 degree. The refrigerator compartment depends on the freezer in order to maintain a temperature suitable for food storage. If it is the case, you defrost heater and thermostat may be defective.
Hello, I have a french door bottom freezer GE
refer to ge website or manual to see how/what you do to have the ice stop making ice. confirm that whatever mechanism that does this is not engaged or broken. some of these are actually electronic type eyes/sensors like those on garage door openers. if they are blocked or broken in anyway this may be your problem.
if this is not the issue, there may be a problem with the actually valve that gets turned on or off that pours water into your automated ice tray. this valve is likely activated by some sort of electric signal. the valve may be functional but the signal is not reaching it, or the signal may be fine but the valve is broken.
make sure that if you mess with the valve, you are careful as to not short out any electronics that could cause further damage to your fridge. also, make sure that your water supply is cut off.
whenever you are working around water, it is 100% advisable that you have access to your main water cutoff. if you mess with this and for whatever reason you get a flood that you cannot stop, it would really ruin your day. if you live in an apt/condo it could ruin your neighbors day, then they would try to ruin yours.
good luck.
For the last couple of weeks I have been hearing
You will need to check the relay switch to the compressor as the contacts can be worn out.
Also the thermostat must be checked, the auto defrost timer must also be looked into to see if the timer works to shut down.
The clicks can be the relay clicking but not connecting or cutting off when the current is not good enough due to poor contacts.
Fridge is making a clicking
This is compresso starting problem.
What you hear is the relay contact which is on and off and can stay on.
You need to check also the starting capacitor which near the relay. One of the two must be replaced with anew one, in some cases both must be replaced.
So check them both and replace the ones that are faulty.
Fridge and freezer getting warmer
Hi!
If the refrigerator is running and not cooling or not cold enough:
Several factors may influence the temperature. Try the following:
Check the freezer fan, it should be blowing plenty cold air to both the freezer and the refrigerator, feel the fridge vents, if no or too little cold air is coming thru, turn temp. controls off and unplug unit form wall outlet and remove the freezer back panel to get behind the fan, check for frozen evaporator coil and ice obstructed air duct to fridge. Use a hair dryer to melt all the ice and when done re-assemble back panel and plug unit back into wall outlet, turn unit on setting the controls half way, I believe # 5.
Check the temperature control settings. For Dial or Digital Readout Models, adjust your temperature control by one number higher for a cooler temperature setting.
For Actual Temperature Readout Models, adjust your temperature control by one degree lower for a lower temperature setting.

watch a video on how to defrost the evaporator coil.

It is not unusual that due to temp changes, the door left open, and mis adjusted temp. controls, the evaporator will get frozen, if it happens again, the defrost heather may be defective and needs to be replaced.
Good Luck!!
Freezer does not recover quickly enough.
Hi,
Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…
Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

Hi. Look carefully at the door and check to see that there are buttons on the side of the door opposite of the hinge. Those buttons conceal the alternate set of screw holes for the hinges. If there are no predrilled holes on the other side of the door then it is not reversible.
That said, If you do locate those buttons, unscrew the hinges from the door, have a helper there as the door will be heavy. Once the door is off, remove the hinges, then move them to the opposite side and reattach the door to the fridge. Put those buttons in the new open holes. J.
Fridge not cold
Check your Model # and Ser#. Probably your Motherboard and condenser fan board. No help from GE but file a complaint 1-800-386-1215. Board # GEA Part no. 200D4860G015 is junk and on every piece of internet writings this board is warranty, however, they(GE) go by the ser# of your fridge. $391 to have A&E come out a replace in 5 minutes. I would recomend working locally.

Water leaks on the floor occassionly
Hi,Before jumping to conclusions about why your refrigerator is leaking, do a thorough inspection. Many times, it will be easy to see where the water is coming from and from that point deduce the problem. For instance, water leaking from the back is usually due to an ice maker issue, water from the side of the refrigerator is usually due to a faulty door or gasket, a leaking drain pan,a clogged defrost drain pan.
Thanks and good luck

You should be able to check whether the compressor is doing anything by removing the back panel of the cabinet, locating the compressor which will be a sealed semi-globe with obvious lines coming in and going out as well as a cable for power.
Check the copper lines while it is running; you should find one hot and the other much cooler.
If there is no greater difference in temperature but the compressor seems to be running, you probably need to have the coolant recharged.
This isn't a DIY job since it requires knowledge and materials most don't have.
Check with your local BBB to find a reliable service company.
