Start with cleaning the vents

cutiepie, I've seen this many times on these dryers. You need to replace the door hinge. Not really a hard job to do. Post a model number (inside door) and we'll get you a part number...Catriver..post back.

I have a Kenmore HE5 Steam: after a power failure last week, now when you turn the dryer on and push"start" the cycle stops emediately and flashes PF...

there is a clean out to the left or the pump.it should be in the middle front when you remove the bottom panel.[hint] have a shop vac on with the hose next to the clean out so you don't get water every where.if you do not have a wet/dry vac and it is on a pedistal open the drawer and put a small trash can in it.hpoe this helps.

Sounds like your drier is over loaded. Belt slipping due to : to much weight in drier. The drier motor is an adjustable. Belt test: If you can twist belt more than a half a turn it is to lose. Replace belt.

send the model number,open the door look around the opening where you put the clothes in you should see a tag there.if you unplugged it and it worked then it's not any of the t-stats or door switch most likely a board issue or something to do with the cord from moving it,when you unplug it and plug it back in your resetting the board so this is what it sounds like but can't tell if you even have a board without model number.

you can't get any parts for this dryer the computer board is no longer available,must be old technology replace it.

Many different possibilities. Could be thermal fuse, timer / control, motor. Start switch, or door switch. Most likely need to call service unless you have means to troubleshoot and test parts.

Most likely a control issue. Will it come right back on after shutting down or does it need to sit a while?

Sounds like the belt that turns the drum could be broken. I'd check that first.

Most dryer heat related problems are attributed to poor ventilation which, in turn, causes the dryer to overheat to the point of failure. More commonly the Thermal Cut-Out (TCO) fails. The component acts as a fuse and must be replaced if bad. In addition, if the TCO is determined to be defective, it is recommended that you replace the Hi-Limit Thermostat at the same time. Both these components work in conjunction with the heating element and are mounted on the heater box. The TCO is located on the end opposite the heating element terminals. The Hi-Limit Thermostat is located adjacent to the heating element leads. These two components are often sold as a kit. If you fail to replace both of them you can experience premature failure of the component you do replace.

Pay particular attention to the section that discusses proper dryer ventilation. If you haven't checked or cleaned the exhaust ducting any time recently, now might be a good time to do so . A dryer left in a clogged or poorly ventilated condition will cause repeated failures in the heating circuit. Not to mention this creates a fire hazard.

If you read through the link and determine that you have a bad heating element, follow these steps to remove:

1. Unplug the dryer and remove the lower panel under the door.
2. Remove the lint screen from the dryer door.
3. Remove the blower fan housing vent cover.
4. Disconnect and label the component wiring on the heater box.
5. Loosen the mounting screw on the heater box front support.
6. The entire heater box, with element inside, should slide out of the dryer.
7. There should be a couple of mounting screws on the component side of the heater box that you need to remove and the entire element slides out.

Check the thermal cut out on the blower chamber and the door switch.

How old is your dryer? My dryer was making a horrible rattling noise and it turned out to be the idler pulley.

Clean the entire exhaust duct from the back of the machine all the way out of the house, if the codes don't change. Call a service tech... CLL SRV = call for service

don't know if you already had this fixed,usually this is caused by not having your dryer cleaned out,the lint builds up inside the duct that the lint filter slides down into and has to be removed and cleaned out.also in some of the kenmore dryer ducts there's a metal clip inside the duct that can come loose and hold the lint filter up.these are the two most likely causes for this to happen.

I have the same issue. Dryer lights when door is opened, but no panel display, and no function.
