Look under the washer. Is there a little pile of black rubber shavings? This sounds like the basket coupler between the motor and the drum. If the coupler is the problem it is inexpensive to fix. Some also call this part the "clutch". It kind of looks like a hockey puck with six holes in it... three for the motor, three for the clothes drum. It seems as though the controller is "Hanging Up?" now this doesn't seem to be supported by any "Faulty" parts, as evidenced, it WILL work, after it is re-initialized, it is also doubtful it is a sensor either, though it may pay to check them all? Most washers have one or two belts. Check your lid switch. If a lid switch is bad, it can cause the washer to not work properly. Sometimes, they will not work at all. Make sure you check your drive motor. The drive motor controls the spinning, draining, and agitation. Most washers have the reverse motor, meaning the shaft rotates in both directions, clockwise and counterclockwise. It is possible to lose one direction and not the other. sounds like the lid open switch got stuck..check that with a chopstick or something like that, to ensure that it's not stuck. won't run if that switch is stuck in 'open ' position.

I found the crazy sound where comes from, it was an aluminum ring in the drain pump.
First of all, I took out the belt under the bottom, checked moter to run itself, it was fine, so, I suspected some waste in somewhere, it was lucky I disassembled the drain pump first, no waste in the drain pump, but I saw a ring that was cut under the pump (seems should be connected), when I try to spin the pump wheel by hand it is broken because of the ring.
I ordered the entire drain pump on the website, the cost $74 + delivery fee, I recognized Maytag re-designed the drain pump due to the ring ( new pump does not have the ring anymore). Now the washer works fine like new.
