Delonghi problems

I had a similar problem. I fixed it by putting a magnet on top of the float inside the tank - described in the link below. I advise covering the magnet with caulk. http://www.fixya.com/support/t1898311-water_container_full_but_low_indication

Water container full but low indication on

I think the water level is read by a magnetic pick up driven by a black floater located 3/4 way towards the back of the water tank.
Make sure this floater can move up and down in its pocket: you can see it through the walls so just shake the tank to see it move, and check that it floats up when you fill water

My Delonghi Magnifica (manual not digital) won't

Delonghi Magnifica comes up with waste tray full light when there is nothing in the tray. It doesn't make coffee, the grinder is rotating and appears to be clear. Could there be a blockage below the grinder, if so how do I access it.

How do you descale my Delonghi Magnifica?

10.3 DESCALING Due to the continuous heating of the water used to make the coffee, over time it is normal for the tubing inside the machine to fill with lime scale. When the light starts flashing (section 12 - point 5), it is time to descale the machine. NOTE: when the light switches on, the coffee maker can still be used to prepare coffee. Proceed as follows: • Empty the tank and pour in the contents of one bottle (125 ml) of DURGOL descaler plus one liter of water. For subsequent descaling operations, descaling solution can be purchased from authorized technical service centers. Note: Make sure splashes of descaler do not fall onto surfaces sensitive to acid such as marble, limestone and granite. • place a container with a minimum capacity of 34 oz. under the cappuccino frother (Fig. 3); • turn the machine on by pressing the button (Fig. 4). • wait for the green and indicator lights to come on steady. • press and hold the button for at least 5 seconds (Fig.14). The decalcification warning light will illuminate (section 11 - point 8) to indicated the start of the descaling program (the and lights remain off to indicate that it is not possible to make coffee). • turn the steam knob half a turn counter-clockwise (Fig.5). The descaling solution will come out of the cappuccino frother and start to fill the container underneath. • the descaling program automatically performs a series of deliveries and pauses, so as to remove the lime scale deposits from inside the coffee maker. Fig.32 The two red buttons have snapped out CORRECTLY The two red buttons have not snapped out CORRECT INCORRECT 17 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS • after around 30 minutes, when the light comes on (section 12 - point 1), turn the steam knob half a turn clockwise (Fig.6) until it stops. The machine must be rinsed so as to eliminate the residues of descaling solution from inside the machine. Proceed as follows: • remove the water tank, rinse it and fill it with clean water. • reposition the tank. • empty the collection container (located under the milk frother) that is full of liquid, and then replace it under the milk frother. • turn the steam knob half a turn counter-clockwise (Fig. 5). Hot water will come out of the milk frother and fill the container underneath. • when the tank is empty, the l ight goes off and the light comes on (section 12 - point 1). • turn the steam knob all the way clockwise (Fig. 6) and fill the water tank with clean water again. • the program of descaling is now terminated and the machine is ready to make coffee again. NOTE: if the descaling procedure is interrupted before completion, the alarm (section 12 - point 5) is not deactivated and the procedure must be started again form the beginning.

Frother not working

The frother does not have a vacuum, it uses venturi pressure to draw up milk through a venturi at the top of the steam feed. The milk side is clogged from not cleaning enough. soak in boiling water for a few minutes and try to run it in steam mode for a while... if that doesnt work, a light lye solution will dissolve the milk residue clogging it. neutralize the lye with vinegar drawn through after the clog is gone.

(lye will dissolve you as well as milk... use gloves and don't put your face near it while it's working.)

Magnifico eam3200 series...centre piece jammed

I have a perfecta and found that the mechanism that translates the infused up and down was jammed. I unplugged it and removed the back panel - two phillips screws - then you will see the motor and cog belt -BE SURE UNPLUGGED - I then turned the motor shaft using my index finger against the cog belt and with the access door open I could see the infuser translate down to a park position. I took it through an entire cycle which actually retracted the infuser and actuated the coffee grind sweep arm - there is a horizontal feature that looks like a sideways 'L' that seems to be a reference for the park location - since when the top of the infuser was at this mark the infuser unit could be removed and the infuser was in the compact configuration as described in the user manual. I am getting a general alarm still and would like to know if anyone could point me to an electrical schematic and functional sequence block diagram.

Delonghi coffee machine making an aweful noise,

Hi. Husband asks: When you first turn the machine on at the power point, does it make a motor sound and then stop, or is the awful noise apparent at that time.

If the awful noise starts as soon as you turn it on, then most likely there is a motor problem which will need to be seen by a Service Center.

Grinds beans OK and goes through the cycle but no coffee comes out even on expresso and not sounding right. Anyone know why?

If the machine is making a loud rattling noise it may be that the pump is sucking air and not water at start up. Clean out the machine, reassemble, install water tank and tilt the machine over backwards at approx 45Deg, and start the rinse cycle again. This normally clears the air lock. Good Luck.

My Delinghi eam3500 has come up with general

The general alarm message after the machine taking too long to heat up -in deed shows a problem to reach the correct temperature.
So there are a number of possible causes:
the 2 heaters (water/steam) the NTCs(temperature control sensors)
the tempearature overheat-fuses. In my case it was the (water-)heater itself. Be sure to unplug the machine from power supply befor opening!!!
First test then-do the heaters warm up??.....carefull if they do-they are hot!!! If one of them doesn´t warm up- Unplug again!...and then measure the resistance of this heater-If the heater is ok,it should show around 50-58 ohms. If it shows indefinite resistance the heater is broken and you have to exchange it.
In case of both the heaters showing the~50ohms you will have to check the thermal resistors/fuse/NTC.
For me the two forums below wer of great help for me...of course they are in german...but didn´t you wish to learn a foreuage anyway???
Good luck and best regards

Delonghi Magnifica "insert brewing unit"

I just figured this out on my machine, I should have taken pictures but i didnt :( this problem seams to pop up whent the elevator that moves the brewing unit up and down gets its starting position mis aligned, since the machine does not have sensors to re adjust the alignment the motor will pull the elevater down even if it cant go further and that seams to cause the nasty noise we were hearing.
1. unplug machine
2. remove the side and back covers
3. remove tray and brewing unit from inside (2 red buttens you press together)
4. remove the bracket that holds the brewing unit (2 hex screws)
5. below the brewing unit bracket is one more screw, it holds the motor unit and elevator on the back of machine, remove this screw.
6. on the back pull out the motor unit with elevator.
7. realign elevator starting position by turning the bottom wheel that is connected to motor via belt, it might feel a bit stuck first as motor has ower tightened the elevator.
The back of the elevator looks like a step ladder with screw going up the middle, for me it worked best to align the bottom of the traveling bracket with the bottom step on the ladder i recomend trying that position and then adjusting if nessesary.
8. reasemble the machine and continue to enjoy exelent coffie

What does generic alarm means

On my ESAM4500/Rialto espresso maker, the Generic Alarm indicated that a thermal fuse had blown. The message may indicate other problems though. Thermal fuses exist to prevent the unit from overheating but I think they can also simply wear out over time. On my unit, when I took off the back, there was a U-shaped boiler clearly visible and on that boiler there was a small fuse with a wire on each side - i.e. an inline fuse. This was the one that had blown and was preventing the unit from working. I went to ereplacementparts.com, found the part via their diagrams (which are fantastic), replaced the fuse and voila - coffee! I can't find my original posting of this answer (with pictures) but I could probably track the pictures down if you need them. It was not a complicated fix once I knew what needed to be replaced.
