Hi
First
make sure that nothing is blocking the drain pump assembly located inside the
bottom of the unit, after this test the lid switch assembly, you jump it to
test it. If the lid switch is also fine then the control board should be
replaced. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

You need to replace the belt needed to spin the drum. It sounds to me like you may have been overloading the drum, putting too much stress on the belt. Over time, it has begun to " burn rubber" as it spins, causing smoke, or worst case scenario, the motor that turns the belt is locking up as the drum spins causing friction on the belt.
The op code keep coming
The "OP" code indicates the lid is open. It needs to be fully closed before starting the cycle.
The "reed switch", is actually a term that is used because the lock or switch is reading off of a magnet.
For your appliance, you have two locks. One on the right hand side(part number 25001037) and one on the left hand side(part number 25001048).
Work fine but when spin mode makes a lot of noise

Do you have the FAV6800A/FAV9800A Service manual? If not google this and download the SM.
16022808.pdf the first Google hit will take you to the Service Manual it's handy if you are going to keep the machine and want to save yourself $$$ with DIY work.
We need to do some basic troubleshooting do you have DVM - Digital Volt Meter? We would need to go up to the Control Board and measure +12VDC onm the Control Board as a start point. I feel this could be an issue with the +12VDC being pulled down by possible corrision issues at the TDS - Tub Displacement Sensor..........bur we need to troubleshoot. Pic below of how I will have you measure +12VDC on the main Control Board in the Console.
Post your issue as a new issue on the Maytag forum not the blog Google this ""Maytag/Magic Chef/Admiral/Jenn-Air"" There is also a stick in that forum for the FAV9800A machine. I post as dh1200s on that forum and other DIY forums.

Hello,
There are several reasons that a washing machine won't drain or spin. The causecould be something as easy as a clog or something difficult that will need alicensed repairman. Start with the simplest possible cause and work down to themore difficult causes.
ChallengingInstructions And Things You'll Need:
- Screwdriver,Flashlight,Voltmeter,Wrenches,Bucket,Rags or mop.
- A washing machine won't spin if the water can't drain. Check hoses for any kinks or clogs that may prevent the water from draining. If a hose has kinks, try to straighten out the kinked hose. If it can't be straighten sufficiently, replace the hose. If hoses are not kinked, check for clogged hoses. This can be done by using the screwdrivers to remove the hoses and looking for clogs or running a water hose through the clogged hose to remove the clog. Use the rags and bucket to clean up the water that comes out of the hoses when they are disconnected. Once the clog is cleared, put the drain hose back into place. The washer should drain and spin now if a clogged or kinked hose was the problem.
- If the washer still won't drain or spin, check to see if the lid is not closing all the way or if the lid switch is not clicking into place. Close the lid and make sure that it closes all the way down. When the lid closes, the lid switch should click. If there is no clicking sound, then the switch may need to be replaced. Follow manufacturer's directions for replacing the switch. If the lid does not close all the way, visually check for signs that the lid is bent. If bent, try to bend it back into place.
- Loose or broken belts could also prevent a washing machine from draining or spinning. Pull the washer away from the wall and, using the screwdrivers and wrenches, remove the back panel. Using the flashlight, visually check for any broken or loose belts. Replace any broken or loose belts. Although replacing washing machine belts is difficult, anyone who has replaced belts on a car , lawn mower or even a bicycle chain should be able to accomplish the task.
- Another possibility for a washing machine to not spin or drain is the pump. With the back panel still off the washer, check the pump with the voltmeter to ensure that the pump is getting power. If the washer is getting power, turn on the washer and listen to find out if the pump is running but the water is still not draining. It may be necessary to remove the pump and clean it or to replace the pump with a new one. Once the pump is replaced, turn on the washer to determine if it will now drain and spin.
- If all of the above steps fail to produce a washing machine that drains or spins, then it is time to call a professional repairman. Use the screwdrivers and wrenches to replace the panel on the washer and push it back against the wall..
Thanks and thanks for visit good luck.
My FAV6800AW has unbalancing problem. I get a dc
Hello rletner, It?s not the repair persons fault he is just not familiar with the machine and how to troubleshoot the issue. I?m an owner and familiar with the FAV6800A/FAV9800A failure issues. You have a clutch malfunction of the roller clutches in the clutch pulley assembly. The rollers clutches are dry/sticky. You may be able to clean up the One-Way roller clutches in the clutch pulley as I describe in this POST. Give it a read and see if you or someone you know has the basic mechanical skill sets to perform. It?s not to bad just a tight work area. This is a very common problem with FAV6800A and FAV9800A machines. DIY it and save big$. I think you are looking at $300 plus my best guess for a Clutch replacement. I would guess that your TDS replacement was around $125-$150 range. I?m at work and have to cut this reply off for now. Read the POST I link to and see what you think. It sounds like the tub swings caused by the clutch malfunction were very extreme. Was this before or after the repair tech replaced the TDS? You should pull the the front cover off and inspect for the leak source. Hope the violent tub swings did not damage the drain pump housing... maybe a drain hose leak. Lets take it one step at a time. Down load the Service Manual form this link; The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference. Let me know if I can help, I will offer phone support if needed no $. Click on my handel and read some of my solutions related to dc/UC errors, failed to spin, will not drain..... all related to a clutch malfunction. My old handel is dh1200s you will fine my post. Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Are you sure it's the sensor and not just the fact that the machine is actually unbalanced on its own? I would try the following first to make certain ;-0)
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly!
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Hi
Yes
you are right the two agitators suppose to do to get the load balanced
before the spin cycle starts and agitators rotates immediately during the first
couple of tub rotations to get the load in the center before the motor speed
revs up and this is part of the clutch operation, However the issue is
with the drain pump assembly that is blocked or bad and should be replaced. The
lid switch seems fine as the water is not draining as well. You should test it before
replacing Hope this helps...please post back for further
assistance.

I have a Maytag FAV6800AWW.
Hi,
I am sorry to hear regarding the trouble. This is a common issue on this model.
You need to replace 2 parts. This is a well known issue and the out of
balance switch starts to go bad because the clutch has been going bad
for a while. These top load Neptune's unfortunately are one of the least
reliable units in the industry but if you wanted to fix the problem,
replace both the out of balance switch and the clutch at the bottom of
the tub and you'll be back and running for another year or 2 probably.
Part Number
the sensor is 12002194
the clutch is 12002211
On most occasions, you need to replace both these parts. You could start by replacing the balance switch, however if the problem does not resolve, you need to replace the clutch as well.I would rather recommend a tech on site as THIS IS NOT AN EASY JOB.
You could have a look at :
http://www.technicianbrian.com/2008/02/maytag-washer.html
You could download the complete service manual from :
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag_library/docs/16022808.pdf
This service manual would include the steps required to complete the job.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(no promises but try this!)
I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
