Maytag Neptune bearing noise
John,
What are the first two numbers of your serial number i.e.10 through 17. I’m an owner like you not a repair person….. but I have a very good feel for machine issues and the repair of the machine. See my ratings under this nick name FAV6800AWDIY and my old original nick name dh1200s.
The biggest problem with FIXYA is they don’t ask the user for Model or S/N of the machine. I can’t believe how many professional repair folks jump in with comments and they have no clue as to what machine is being discussed.
You may end up going with a replacement if it’s the Outer Tub Bearings. I would remove the tub and try to replace before I would junk a $1000 but that’s me you would need to decide. This a weak repair area for me I have not replaced the outer tub bearings on any of the three FAV66800A’s I own but I feel confident I could do it. I buy these cheap and repair for resale.
Have you had the Clutch Pulley removed/replaced in the past for dC or uC error code failure in Spin Cycle?
I would drop the Clutch Pulley out and clean up/re-lube the One-Way Roller Clutches and check for signs of a tub seal leak. Then with the Clutch Pulley out spin up the Wash Basket CCW as fast as you can by hand and listen for bearing noise of the Outer Tub Bearings. Let’s make sure the One-Way Roller clutch bearing is not the bearing noise source. See this post for removing the clutch and doing maintenance and replacement. Clutch Fix Post
I have to post rest of this comment as a comment. This forum is not geared up for DIY responses.
FAV6800AWW won't spin without going out of balance
Each of the legs supporting the washer need to be adjusted and the washer leveled. You will need a Level with bubble indicators to see the exact position of the liquid within & it is in the center of the glass container. Level front to back and side to side. When done the washer should be level at all 4 sides and it will not move around and cause the level indicators to trip any switches.

Hello all, back with an update. I am sending
this with my fingers crossed.
First, I got smart, sort of, and called Sears
for the repair. Sears offers a plan that cost about $200
and guarantees that they will repair the unit or they will give you $500
toward a new machine. You do not have to pay for any parts or additional
service calls. It also gives you a 1 year service contract on the entire
machine after the repair is complete. So far they have been back 4 times to try
to fix our dc code problem. They have replaced the pump, pressure switch,
wiring harness and main circuit board. They have now determined that it is a
clutch. They are coming back next week to replace that. But since
they replaced the wiring harness and main circuit board the unit has been
working pretty well 12 straight loads of all sizes have gone through without a problem). They are coming back
today to replace the clutch, I might wait on that repair. The best part is, has not cost me
anything over the first $200.
You will have to be very patient if you chose to go
this direction because Sears service has its problems. The first as you
see is that they have already been back 4 times. This is because they
have no parts in there trucks. They need to order it for you and ship it
to your house each time they identify a part that needs to be replaced.
They, like many service companies, give you a 4 hour window of when they
will show up (they will however, if you ask, call your cell phone 1/2 hour
before they arrive if this helps). They also have missed two of there scheduled
appointments.
One other thing I learned for those of you who don’t want to bail out
the water in the tub. If you want to have the machine drain the excess
water without bailing this should work. Turn the machine off and make
sure the "locked door" light goes off. Then hold the
"Spin" and "Enviro Plus" buttons at the same time for 3
seconds. "00" should then show up on the display. Then
hit the "Delicate" button, then the “Pre-soak” button. This should
activate the pump and get all the water out. Once the water is out hit
the off button. You then may want to try the Spin cycle alone. These directions can be found on the Troubleshooting
Manual found folded up behind the rear panel of the machine where the main electrical circuit board
is located.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Are you sure it's the sensor and not just the fact that the machine is actually unbalanced on its own? I would try the following first to make certain ;-0)
It is necessary to ensure absolutely that the machine has all 4 feet very firmly on the floor, and I mean firmly!
Doesn't matter whether it is empty or not but switch it off then-
very firmly push one front corner diagonally into the centre of the machine and see if the machine moves or rocks AT ALL, even the slightest. If it does you will need the open-ended spanner which came with the (new) machine........which of course went missing a long time ago?!! An adjustable spanner will suffice.
Adjust the foot under that corner downwards until it is very firmly- almost pushing- against the floor but not so far that the corner lifts up!
If this corner did not rock do the same to the other.
Once you cannot rock the machine the slightest little bit, screw the locking nuts up tight to the underside of the machine so that they will not move. Ideally the rear feet should also be locked.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
