Maytag Neptune Error COde "nd"
This is now the 3rd time this has happened. The 1st 2 times it cost me ~$100 to have a technician come in and fix.
This time, I did it easily. For my Maytag Neptune washer, I removed the back panel (2 screws). On the bottom tray is the water discharge pump. On the output side of the pump there is a small cavity under the rubber flapper where a nickle fits perfectly. I removed the nickle, reattached the output drain line. started it up ...
and viola! the problem solved.
Sludge on mah5500bww spinner support
That sludge is causing the error. The spindle is not being lubricated thoroughly and when the motor tries to turn it, it drags in spots and gives the unbalanced error. Clean it off and regrease it and if there is a seal or gasket, replace it.
Washer won't drain
You will need to get to the electric drain pump to check for 110 volt ,if you are getting power then disconnect the hoses check to see if ther is anything holding the impeller, if it is clear then replace the pump.
How to clean
The design of this unit always has water in the machine......turn the bowl by hand and you will hear the water. This is normal but allows the mold to form if the door is closed for an extended period of time. The best thing is to leave the door partially open if not using the machine
Water fills constantly
Inlet water valve stuck open, usually because the filter is damaged or non-existent, dismantle valve clean out foreign matter or replace valve.
House fuse blew last night
Plastic lead inside front of soap dispenser unlocks door.
Remove front panel, undo top panel & lift up, check wax motor (red / brown unit above / top of door), usually burnt out taking control board with it. If you are going to repair fit 5 amp fuse in line with wax motor or fit later model door lock mechanism.
Water sounds drum
This Liquid in the drum to balance it on spin, all Maytag front loader have it.
Mah5500b mother board
Sounds more like the key is stuck or shorted.
You can try to do a membrane test by putting it into the service mode. Have the unit on, press and hold the delicates and heavy soil key together until it shows 00 on the display. Next
press the wrinkle free key. This will let you test every key on the keypad. You can toggle them off and on and see if they are responding. If they are not responding then you can assume that the keypad is your problem.
The keypad is not hard to install. Just a ribbon that plugs into the board. You may want to try to clean the end of the ribbon with a eraser and see if that fixes the problem. Always work with unit unplugged.
