Maytag dryer sde515dayw works when
Hello Confused :)
the most probable trouble your having is that the moisture sensor bar is built up with oil from fabric softner sheeets(do you use softner sheets ?) so its misreading the clothes as being dry
to clean it use a dobie pad or the green srubby side of a kitchen sponge using rubbing alcohol
its in the front panel to find it it's 2 chrome/stainless steel metal strips embedded into a black plastic base.
If you clean it and problem reoccurs the electronic control/timer that the moisture sensor sends it's reading to is defective

OUR DRYER HEATS UP BUT
Hi patty069...
ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.
Note: This method workds for most front loading machines.
If you have to check/replace/repair your drum motor, drum seals, belt, rollers, etc.
If replacing drum seals be sure to use a good grade of weather proof cement to hold the seal/s in place, some seals are furnished with the cement to glue it in place.
Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer if necessary. Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch or other electrical connections.
Remove the lint filter and the two screws that hold the filter housing to the top of the dryer lid.
Then remove the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver between the top and frame on each side of the dryer to pop the lid up from the retaining clips.
Note: Some of the tops tilt backwards on a type of hinge and do not have to be removed completly.
Remove the front of the machine by disconnecting the door switch and removing the two screws located on either side of the dryer frame.
Move the door and front of machine forward to remove.
This will expose the belt, idler bracket and drum, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley. Pay attention to the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt and drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
Note:The way the belt goes back on is, as the belt comes off the drum has to be doubled (pushed together to form a loop) and goes under the idler pulley then to the motor pulley.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a vasoline type of lubricant. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.

Inteli dry regular cycle, timer gets stuck and
An
unusual noise coming from a running clothes dryer can cause concern,
although these noises are rarely indicative of a more serious problem.
Once the source of the noise has been located, a few simple repairs or
adjustments will usually solve the problem and restore peace to your
laundry room.
Gas
-
A gas dryer may emit an occasional clicking sound. This noise is caused
by the gas valve and is a normal operating sound. The clicking sound
coming from the gas valve can not be eliminated and it does not
indicate any mechanical problem with the dryer.
Warm Up
-
A newly installed dryer, or a dryer that has been left unused for a
period of time, may exhibit a thumping noise during the first few
minutes of the drying cycle. According to the Maytag company, this
noise is normal and should not be a cause for concern. If the noise
continues for more than a few minutes or repeats on subsequent loads,
however, then steps should be taken to locate the origin of the noise.
Clothing
-
Clothing can become knotted and balled up in the clothes dryer. This
can cause vibration or a load thumping noise. When this happens, open
the dryer and remove the knotted clothing. Separate the articles of
clothing and place them back in the dryer. The thumping noise should
not continue unless the clothing has become knotted again.
Vibration
-
Place your hands on top of the dryer and push down firmly; if the dryer
tilts to one side, the clothes dryer is not level. This can cause the
dryer to vibrate during the cycle and if the vibration is severe
enough, the surrounding walls could be damaged by the dryer. Maytag
dryers have four leveling legs installed into holes on the bottom of
the dryer. These legs are included with the dryer and should have been
screwed into the holes during installation. A wrench can be used to
adjust the legs until the dryer is stable and level.
Foreign Objects
-
Small objects such as coins, buttons, or paperclips can become lodged
between the drum and the sides of the clothes dryer. These items
usually end up in the dryer after being left in clothing pockets during
laundering. Turn the dryer off and remove any clothes to a laundry
basket. Allow the dryer to cool down so that you won't burn your hand
on any metal surfaces inside the dryer which may be hot. Look inside
the dryer and pay special attention to the front and rear edges of the
dryer drum. Run your fingers along the grooves where the drum connects
to the dryer to locate any foreign objects. These objects could be
bouncing around the dryer causing noise during the cycle, and then
settling into the grooves when the dryer stops making them difficult to
locate. Remember to remove all items from clothing pockets before
laundering in the future to avoid this problem.

Put new heating element in dryer and still no heat
The most likely cause is one of the temperature control thermostats or the overheat safety thermostat. To check these, disconnect the wires and check them with an ohm meter. They should all be closed... Very close to Zero Ohms. You can use a test light on plain old electro-mechanical thermostats but be careful using them on electronic temp sensing thermostats. They could cause an overcurrent condition and burn out the thermostat if it's not already burned out.
If the thermostats are good, there is usually a safety switch in the motor to keep the element from heating if the motor is not running. This switch may be defective and not allowing current to the heating elements.
Hope this helps.

Where is the pilot light on a Maytag dryer
what is the model number? free standing pilots have been gone for several years. Google your model number and include parts.
This will give you sites that sell parts.
