I've called them on another matter within the last couple of weeks, so I know these numbers work.

If your grill is old enough that it's no longer supported (something I've encountered with some other brands), then you're probably going to have to go hunting on eBay. If you end up going this way, I'd be willing to offer some further tips if you're interested.

Hi roanoke dave,

You clearly have a defective unit (not the kind of "hot" you want), and I'd recommend going to the customer service number below and getting a new unit. I've called them, it takes awhile to get through, but they did try to help. The automated phone attendant will also offer an email address you can use for priority service (24-hour response if I recall).

It shouldn't matter if you're in-warranty or not, what they sold you is downright hazardous. Call them on it. If they don't want to cooperate, see my note below.

If for some reason they don't want to help, it's time to contact the consumer protection division of your state attorney-general's office and "light 'em up" (Salton, Inc) for putting out a defective (and potentially dangerous) product on the public.

Hi udd04,

It's probably a Teflon™-based product of some kind. It depends on if you're comfortable eating stuff containing fluorine compounds, which I avoid to the degree possible (hard if you have it in your tap water).

You should probably consider replacing those parts just the same.

The burner element is burned out. You can also check the overload fuse. You'll have to take it apart to do this.
