Cmos Checksum Error
Check CMOS and Memory Modules:::If the error message is "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP," then it indicates you have problem with the memory of your computer. You need to check whether the SIMMs (Single Inline Memory Modules) are compatible and have the same speed. Secondly, also check whether you have set the CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) to the right amount of RAM. If these solutions do not work, you might have to replace memory in your computer....try to use system utility tool like Reginout.. Hope the problem is resolved.
Won't boot in safe mode
Starting an IBM Thinkpad T43 in safe mode allows you to troubleshoot technical issues that you otherwise couldn't. Often when a system has a virus or other type of malicious program, safe mode is the only way to locate and delete the problem. In safe mode, only the computer's essential programs are enabled, and only the files necessary to running the system are in use. Learn how to start an IBM Thinkpad T43 in safe mode using a few fairly easy steps.
1.Close all programs and restart the IBM Thinkpad T43.
2.Press "F8" repeatedly after the IBM logo appears, but before the operating system logo appears. If the "F8" key doesn't work, restart the computer and try pressing the "F11" key repeatedly.
3.Press the "down arrow" key to select "Safe Mode."
4.Press the "Enter" key. The computer will boot up in safe mode.
What causes a thermal sensing erro on ibm t43
A Thermal error on the T43 usually indicates a problem with overheating. This can be caused by many reasons:
1. Dirt build up on fan or fan louvres causing fan to turn slowly and not being able to cool the system properly.
2. Blocking of air inlets to the laptop. Do not use on your lap, or on soft surfaces such as blankets, bedsheets, etc.
If you feel a lot of heat from the air out of the laptop, then the system is over heating.
You can run fan diagnostics as follows:
1. Turn on the computer and check the air turbulence at the louver near the PC Card slot.

Help me fix this
Sometimes (rarely) laptops need a bit of a kick to get them going! When confronted with this particular issue, I power off the laptop, disconnect the power supply, remove the battery and discharge any residual charge by pressing the power on switch for a couple of seconds.
Replace the battery, re-attach the power and reattempt the normal power on cycle. See it that kicks it into action!

Make sure the fan is not jammed, if it is free running then try a replacement.
HOW DO YOU print screen ON T43 THINKPAD
On the right side of the keyboard look at the top row of keys. You will find one that reads "PrtSc". This is the key you press to take a snapshot of the screen.
Before doing so, make sure to open the application that you want to paste the snaptshot to first so that the image is saved onto that application. Once you press the key, go to the application, then paste the image. Let me know if this works.
