Is there ice build up in the freezer? Ours does this we have to remove the bottom & above draw & bang the back plate until the ice built up behind it breaks off & falls down onto a tea towel & then you hear the fan start whirring again, it sounds brutal so wrap your hand in a spare tea towel, but bash away till the ice comes out & fan whir's again, as this fan circulates the cold air into maintaining fridge temperature ?? That's the only way ours then chills fridge again, so much for frost free fridge freezers eh! ??

Take the filter to the hardware store and get the necessary fittings (and maybe a short piece of tubing) to connect the in and out lines without the filter. Perhaps easier deal is a new filter which should NEVER become clogged on RO water.

The drain in the freezer behind back lower panel
needs opening. You can see it at the bottom of the back panel
underneath the evaporator coils. (The cold coils)
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
When the defrost melts the water it goes down the drain
If the drain is clogged with Ice or ? The defrost water
overflows into the ref. or freezer or on floor
Run Hot water in the drain until it clears or use a hairdryer.
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

i have 2 pictures in the coil freezing up tip and they always for some reason post incorrectly so here they are..

Look inside the freezer and see if there is a layer of frost covering the rear panel of freezer. If yes then unplug and begin manual defrost.The most likely problem is possibly the=> 61005988 Adaptive Defrost Control found here=> MSD2734GEQ Control Panel part 13 is the Adaptive Defrost

We have the same issue on our Maytag Side by Side - MSD2734GE. Empty the freezer. At the back of the freezer are two panels in the back. It is only necessary to remove 3 screws. The first 2 screws hold on the very bottom panel. Remove the back panels and look at the drain located at the bottom. You will notice a thin piece of metal covering a drain hole. Remove the screw holding the metal in place. Then remove the ice build up around the drain hole.

First look into rear of freezer on backwall for a layer of frost. If you find frost then the next step is to check the defrost timer found inside fresh food section Click here=> PTB21BBGRB Control Panel part #12 in large view is the defrost timer. There maybe a plastic plug below the control panel that you may pry away for you to manulally turn slowly clockwise until it clicks and the defrost will take place. make sure the door is sealing completely...if its letting air in ice will form

check defrost drain tube

check in the freezer side and look at the back wall and see if there is any build up of frost, your coil may be block, so no air flowing through the coil, your unit may not defrosting, you need to check the defrost heater,the defrost timer or the defrost thermostat one of these part can be defective

Initially, this normally would point to the fan not spinning. The function of the fan is to draw the cold air from the freezer and force it through the vents to the refrigerator area. Even having said this, the fan is activated by the logic controller based on the the thermostat setting of the refrigerator and condition of the door (it must be closed).

To connect the water supply using a plastic hose kit to the MBB1954G UNIT, you can follow these steps: Turn off the water supply valve under the sink. Remove the old hose from the water supply valve and the back of the refrigerator. Attach the new plastic hose to the water supply valve and the back of the refrigerator. Make sure the hose is not kinked or twisted. Tighten the fittings with an adjustable wrench. Turn on the water supply valve and check for leaks. you can add water filter. It is installed on supply line. go to Home Depot and pick up a refrigerator water filter kit with accessories.
