Sound drive download free
As you have not specify the exact A60 model, I'm not able to filter down to the right model.
But I can guide you to the download page. Just copy and paste the url below in your web browser
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp?nav=Product%20Support#
Then click "show all models" ----> "satellite" -----> A60-XXXX where X represent your A60 model.
Click "Go"
Then download the sound driver.
That's it.

Firstly, what an analogy re Doorstop!! brillant.
These problems can indicate that there is a problem with your files stored by your internet explorer, or worse a trojan may have infected the pc.
If you can rule out an infection, you need to tackle the wininit.dll errror

This is a tricky one to solve without actually seeing the machine. If you can provide some more details that would be a bit more helpful

My Toshiba Satellite L310 cannot shut down,
Try this, in the power option (control panel) and in one of the tabs there is an
option called "turn APM (advanced power management) on", check it. I think this
will solve the problem.

Screen dark unable to adjust/ external screen
There are plenty of the screen inverters on Ebay, just search by the computer model number, not the inverter part number. They should be about 20 bucks with shipping. That is why your screen is dark, the inverter takes power from your power inverter and converts the DC power to AC for the LCD backlight. Yours sounds like is failing or failed.
