Best bet is to obtain new installation media. If the recovery cds were corrupted chances are system files are corrupted as well. NTLDR or NT Loader, contains information regarding location of system files, operating system etc. To correct it you'll most likely have to reinstall, either fresh, or run a repair operation using whatever OS install disc you're looking to run on your machine.

In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Have a virus on my toshiba laptop, can i resolve

Hi Andrewfairwa.

Yes, you may remove all the security threats in the Computer by restoring it to the Factory settings.

But, restoring the Computer to the Factory settings will also delete the Data in the Hard Drive.

Hence, you may try performing a Complete System Scan to check for any Virus or security threats.

You may perform the Complete System Scan by using the Anti-virus Application installed in the Computer.

If you have not installed any Anti-virus Application installed in the Computer, you may perform a online System Scan.

Let me provide the detailed steps to perform the online System Scan.

You may perform the free Online Scan by visiting the below link:

http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html

Please open the above link and click on "Start Scanner".

This will start the free Online System Scan.

Once the Scan is complete, check if the Virus or any security threats are removed from the Computer.

If there are still any threats, then you may backup all the important Data and restore the Computer to the Factory settings.

Hope this helps.

Please feel free to ask further questions.
