We have a Maytag 25

This is due to defrost not working in your unit.First Try the manual defrost reset procedure before replacing any part.------- First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem. The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly and it has to be checked and replaced. ------------------------- to get required parts for your refrigerator you can get it from www.repairclinic.com .This should help. Thanks.Helpmech.

How do I tighten up a loose handle on the bottom

It took me a while but I finally figured it out. You need a special screw driver bit. The bit is a T10 -- it's star shaped but that is the size you need. There is a place to access this under the handles -- works great!

Freezer and Ice maker are working refrigerator is

If your freezer side is capable of making ice, and that ice is dry and remains so,

the only issue you have is insufficient airflow to the reefer box section from the freezer.

The refrigerator section is 100% reliant upon the frezers side for all of its cold air.

The refer box has no evaportator of its own, There are 2 settings or dials.

One is the temperature thermostat, it actually controls the compresssor motors cycling,

thus the desired ice box temperature as well, it often says 1-10 and off as well, the reamaining setting, the one that cannot turn the compressor motor either off nor on is a damper door controller, that modulates the freezers airflow into the reefers box! This is where the problems occur, when one notices the reefers box is warm, they max both settings, which seems logical , and is for the thermostat dials setting.Where the major counter intuitive reality exists is the flapper dooors setting will say Colder and Warmer!!Colder of course!! right?? No, it actually means and usually does say, Colder Freezer!!not Colder Reefer! so you MAX or RAISE the thermostat, thats ok to do.But maxing or raising the other setting is just starving the reefer box section from sufficient cold air flow to maintain adequate temps.I have gone to hundreds of identical calls, Freezers ok, but Reefers warm! If the freezers making ice and the ice is dry, there is no problem with the refrigeration system, its airflow.when defrost timers or heaters fail the symptoms may be as yours, however the freezer will slowly warm in another day or so. But if the freezers making ice for days and never getting wet theres an airflow issue period, you may need to remove the back wall panel in the freeezer to see the coils condition , is it iced up or blocking airflow with icing/ is the ducting open between the freezer and reefer boxes?setting both dials to the midway setting should work fine. the condenser coils may be dirty/dusty too, is the cardboard backing still in place on back? it needs to be there intact.

is there product inside the reefer box? if not add 3 gallons of water.

Fridge wont get cold

DEFROST HEATERS2_bing.gif IN THE FREEZER. IF THERE IS FROST ON THE BACK WALL INSIDE THE OF THE FREEZER SECTION. YOU THEN HAVE A DEFROST PROBLEM. REMOVE THAT PANEL AND DEFROST WITH HAIR DRYER. THIS FROST IS BLOCKING THE AIR FLOW TO THE REF. SIDE. AFTER THIS IT WILL WORK FOR 10-21 DAYS WITH OUT REPLACING A PART. THERE IS A BROWN AND ORANGE WIRE TO THE DEFROST SAFTY THERMOST. THE CONNECTOR ON THAT BROWN WIRE MAY HAVE FROZE APART. THE DEFROST SAFETY THERMOSTAT MAY HAVE FAILED. OR CONTROL BOARD MAY HAVE FAILED. BEHIND THE KICK PLATE IN A BAG ATTACHED TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR REF. CABINET IS A TECH SHEET ON HOW TO FORCE A DEFROST TO CHECK THE SYSTEM.

My fridge quit working.Freezer still

Most likely you have a defrost problem. The frost is building up on the evaporator coil causing a restriction to the flow of cold air from the freezer to the refrigerator.

Freezer (low part) is working.

Hi, the problem is with the fan and there is a new replacement fan available for your refrigerator, it comes as a kit with a new mounting bracket. They had a lot of issues with this model. You can replace it yourself- it is located in the freezer compartment behind the back wall and has 3 wire connections and a clip in style mounting bracket. You may have to remove the ice maker if you have one to get the back panel out.

Ice maker isn't working but

Hello,
Take off the back panel in the freezer. 1/4" screws. Use a nut driver or ratchet and socket with an extension. 2. Behind the frost is the evaporator and the defrost heaters. One heater in the middle and one at the bottom. They are glass tubes. If you can see the bottom heater that is great. If not use a hair dryer and defrost only the very bottom to expose the lower heater only. 3. Now in the refrigerator section at the top where the controls are, take off the long plastic piece to expose the timer. The timer should be on the right hand side and have a little circle that is slotted. Get a flat screwdriver and turn that timer slowly clockwise just until it clicks and the refrigerator turns off. This will put it into defrost. 4. Now look at that heater that you exposed and see if it glows and gets hot. If it does, then the timer is bad. 5. If the heater doesn't come on then go ahead and defrost the rest of the evaporator with the hair dryer. This will take a little while. Don't poke at the evaporator!!! 6. Once totally defrosted look at both heaters. They should look like clear glass and see a silver coil running thru them. If they look discolored at all then the heaters are bad. The heaters come as a complete assembly with the defrost thermostat which clips onto the evaporator. 7. If the heaters look ok the only way to know for sure if they are bad is to check continuity with a meter on the plug at the end of their wiring harness. If you can check that then you can splice in a new defrost thermostat to solve the problem. However the best thing to do is replace the heaters and defrost thermostat . It is easy to install. Follow these steps and this will solve your problem.

Compressor tries to kick on but does not. Is

I would check the start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it's bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it's bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it's ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it does not cost much. A quick check on the compressor is to remove the start relay. You will see 3 pins connect a multi meter set for continuity. You should have continuity between any of the 3 pins. If you do not the compressor is bad. If you replace it and it doesn't work then the compressor is bad and you'll need to call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). You can enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for diagrams and illustrations or to purchase a start relay. A 3 in 1 start relay will also work fine. All parts come with installation instructions.
