Keyboard detection problem
if the kb works on another system then the ribbion is ok, right?, the port on the motherboard is broken, which is almost certainly integrated(soldered to the board with no wires in between) which means to replace just the port you need to get a desoldering tool and cloth and a soldering iron(do not use a gun, they are not as acurate when working with this small of a space) and of course some solder, not to mention the replacement part or a more seriously broken laptop with the same part that you can take apart, seems like a lot of work to resurect a laptop, i would suggest a new board, new laptop or get a usb kb, maybe one of those rollup ones they sell on thinkgeek.com so you can retain some of the protablity, then again since the onboard kb is not functional it just sorta becomes deskspace for an external one. the fastest cheapest fix would be an external keyboard, next time i would recomend knowing what you are doing a little better before working on a valueable system or any that you cannot afford to loose, I see people break the ribbion cables and connectors all the time when working on laptops, its usualy because they dont know how to open the clips on the connectors, anyways try to be more careful next time

Howto remove key board of Satellite A85-S107
underneath the laptop you will see three or four screw holes with an arrow on them in the centreish of the laptop. remember the keyboard is only in the middle of the laptop and not the edge so no need to undo any more.undo these and open laptop. you should also see two small lumps at the foot of the keyboard either side of the spacebar but lower. this shuold release the main body of the keyboard and allow you to lift as far as your ribbon wire will allow. carefully undo the very small catch at the foot of the ribbon wire and release the wire. don not under any circumstances snap this wire as it will be a very skillfull soldering job to repair the damage.

I have a Toshiba Satellite
you'll need to pry the screen gently forward(away from the plastic casing)...along the side s of the screen will be the hinge brackets.....4 screws (2 either side) hold the screen in place...undo these screws and the screen will be free....the only thing connecting screen to computer will be the video ribbon cable which connects to the back of the screen via a plastic pressure clip...release the clip and your done.....remember to be very careful when installing the new screen as its easy to overtighten the screws and damage the screen

Re: Prestigio Laptop
Well as you have already reinstalled the windows than the next thing would be to get the keyboard replaced as there could be an issue with the keyboard itself. Also try connecting a external keyboard if you have and see if that works.Contact your manufacturer to get it replaced.

My Toshiba laotp's screen goes half blank help!!
Well try to boot into the safe mode.hit F8 on the startup and see if you get the same acreen. If its working fine in safe mode than you need to reinstall the video driver and that should resolve the issue. If it is still not working try connecting a external moniter. If you get the same display on the external moniter than its an issue with the video card and if you get a normal display on that than its an issue with the Laptop screen and you would ahve to get either of thses replaced by contacting the manufacturer.
Hope this helps!

Switching to vista
Im not sure what you mean by restoring.
If you upgraded to vista the only way to go back to windows xp is to reformat your hard drive.

Computer shuts itself off
Hey Cidney,
Sounds like the laptop is overheating, the machine will restart or turn itself off once the temperature goes over 60-65c.
Might be a faulty fan or need the thermal paste replaced on the cpu. best bet is to put it into a shop for a free quote if theres anyone near you. afraid i dont think you will be able to fix it yourself, and can sometimes it can be quite costly..
Sorry cant help anymore
All the best
John

Toshiba washing machine model AW-DK1700WMM has turn on, beeps with error code EL then shut down within 5 seconds, how can I slove this problem?
To fix the EL error code:
* Make sure the door is completely closed and latched securely. A loose or broken latch can cause the error.
*Examine the door lock for any damage, dirt, or debris that could prevent it from working properly. Clean the area thoroughly.
* Turn off the washing machine, then unplug it for a few minutes. Plug it back in and restart it. This may resolve communication issues that trigger the error.
* Examine the wiring connections between the door lock system and the control panel. Faulty connections, such as loose or damaged wires, can disrupt communication and lead to the error message.

How to fix tablet toshiba wt8-a
Ensure the cd rom is empty and the bios is set to boot from drive C first, then drive D.
If all in order and it still doesn't boot, try a system disc in the cd rom.
