42 inch LG Plasma TV - Lost picture

Hi , I recently had the same problem which I was determined to fix . So I did a few weeks of research to find that it was the Y SUS board which burns out. I'm sure you realized that the TV gets hot. Personally I think this is why. circuit boards don't like heat and I've learned that the cooling fans are a joke. I replaced the board and got my picture back. I proved the fan theory because after the screen started to act up. I placed a cooling fan near the vent holes on top and the problem cleared right up,It also helps if you lower the brightness which helps out on the heat situation.I will soon be adding a fan with a temp. sensor. This shoud help if your screen has lines when you initially turn the cool TV on.then I have Some other costless solutions. Hope this helped these are great TV's and like our cars we maintain them not throw them away..................................Mr Wiseman

The color has gone out. what is the problem

If the problem is same with different input devices and you have ensured there are no loose contacts in power outlet, RC jack, cable and sockets, the TV needs servicing.

50"lg plasma tv

The popping noise you heard it's probably a capacitor blowing up in the power supply circuitry. If the TV is less than one year old, still covered under manufacturers warranty.
Let me know if you need any more assistant let me know.

50px1d-uc When I try to turn it on, the red power

I came across this in a manual -Without CableCARDTM : Illuminates red in standby mode, Illuminates green when the TV is turned on. -Inserting the CableCARDTM : Illuminates orange in standby mode, Illuminates green when the TV is turned on....You might want to check your cable card. It seems to mimic your problem. Try taking the card out and gently clean, with a dry cloth, the contacts/strip. Then take some "canned air" and blow out the card socket from the side to dislodge any accumulated debris.

Lg tv 52 plasma bottom half of screen went blank

Hi Keith,This is an indication of faulty Y scan drive (bottom), it is a rectangular board at the right side if you are facing at the rear panel. You can fix it yourself because no soldering required replacing this board. Let the unit unplug from the AC source(outlet) to drain any voltages from the power supply board and other boards, open the back cover, pull out all connectors (make sure to do this firmly and take extra care), unscrew the board, put-in the new board, insert all connectors.Click this LINK for parts or obtain it from your local LG service center. Make sure to check the part no/board no. on the white sticker on the board itself before ordering.Hope I helped you.Have a nice day!Jdvillanueva

I have a LG

You need to replace both the Y and X-sustain boards to light the tv. If the voltage is fine from the power supply then those are the only other boards related to lighting the plasma gas.

Thank you!

THE PROBLEM IM HAVING IS

Hi ,
I have the same problem with my lg rz 42px11 and I know it is the power board that is the issue.
I am going to have ago at repairing mine for a project as i bought the set as a none worker with no pic ,But have fixed this and now left with the power issue as yours .
If you are good with a soldering iron then you need to locate the power board ,if you follow the power cable from where the power goes in to the set this will lead you to the power board .
It will have four big capcaitors on it and three to four small yellow transformers on it .The board itself should have a parts code on it which will start with some thing like PCB (power control board) or PSC.
You can either just replace this board via ebay or if you want to have ago at fixing it look at the capacitors and see if any of the tops look as if they have been pushed upwards (swollen) .If so these will be your problem and the will need to be replaced .You must match the voltage and uf of what you take out .
Good Look .

Green lines vertical on lg 50 plasma tv started

I had the same problem with a Sony tv a couple of years ago. The cable connection was going through the VCR, then to the tv, so we thought we could try making a direct connnection, and the lines went away! I'm not sure if this is your problem, but if so, this should do the trick. If not, call a repairman, and they may be able to help.

Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

I hope this will help in solving the problem and do take care in handling it, because it contain high voltages.....

When i push the remot control for on fors start ,

Hi morangocohab,

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the dried-up/leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit and blinking error appear. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Also, bad solder joints can produce the same symptom, it is hard to spot, you should use table lamp/portable lamp for finding the cold solder. Secondary reason of fault is the open fuse/fusible resistor in series with the output of regulator IC/transistor, shorted/openRegulator IC/transistor, shorted zener diode(all are in the power supply section) and the microcontroller. Best that you check the output voltage of each regulator to determine where the fault came from and narrow the job.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.
