The door, you mean the metal cover on the front? if you have the door off and push the safety switch in with your hand everything works fine? I need more info here, but if what I said is right, then the "door" isn't making good contact with the switch.
AC thermostat not working
Hello, if the unit is equipped with a condensate safety switch it will kill power to the thermostat if the drain line is backed up. You would need to use a wet/ dry vac to clean out the line. The line is typically a 3/4 inch white pvc pipe. If the unit does not have a safety switch then either a blown fuse, burned out transformer are the problem.

Where is the filter in ruud model UBHC-21J11NFC
It depends upon configuration- or how it was installed. In general terms, wherever the air from the structure is being drawn into the cabinet for air recirculation/intake- the filter will be in the vicinity of the ducting connecting to the Ruud heat pump/AC.. It will be before the "A coil" assembly (the copper tubbing with fins roughly the shape of an "A".This assumes it was installed correctly. If not, the A Coil will collect a thick layer of dust on the side facing the incoming air flow. The relevent Ruud documentation is here: http://www.ruudac.org.ua/ubhc02.pdfIf there is any doubt about the integrity of the installation, contact an HVAC contractor familiar with your area to inspect and make corrections if needed.
