You need to call Portable Heater Part in Valparasio,in for replacement parts

stop STOP STOP STOP, NEVER DO THIS EVER STOP, YOU CAN DIE BURN HOUSE DOWN ,STOP,

check and see if the heater has a high temperature limit switch. if it does it will shut the machine off until it cools down.. just replace it with a new one.

Hi

First of all make sure that the heater is filled with K-1 kerosene. Other fuel, such as gasoline, burn too hot causing the heater to burn out of control. Never use gasoline or any other fuel described as flammable. If there is any question about the fuel in your heater it is best to drain it and replace the wick and start with fresh K-1 kerosene. If you are sure of your fuel and your heater is giving off sooty black smoke it is a sign that the fuel/air mix is off. Make sure the chimney is seated correctly. If it didn't seat into place correctly after lighting you may be getting a very high flame on one side. If it's a high orange flame all the way around try rolling the wick adjuster knob down within the adjustment range - the wick may just be too high. If these things do not fix the problem wait until the heater is cool and inspect the burner cylinder. If there are any holes plugged with soot it needs to be cleaned or if it's dented or buckled it needs to be replaced. After you have checked the fuel and burner you should check to make sure the wick is installed at the correct height. Refer to the owner's manual for exact height. If the wick isn't installed correctly or there is no obvious defect it is best to take the heater to a service center to determine the cause.

I would remove the cover to get to the circuit board and inspect or resolder all the connetions on the board. Also check any low value resistors. If this does not solve your problem replace the board. They are available at http://www.reddyparts.com. Desa made all the torpedo heaters and these guys have parts for all them.

Take the top cover off of the unit. Plug it in and look at the ignitor for a bright glow or spark, depending on your ignition source. This should happen before the fan starts. Once the fan starts you should be able to see fuel spraying out of the spray nozzle. If there is no fuel, check the fuel screen, air output from the pump, air filters on the pump, and the correct air pressure from the pump. The nozzle can also be dirty. Check for air leaks on the pump by spraying soapy water on the pump while the blower fan is running.

DO not try to light with flame. Check fuel an vac lines first.then ck glow plug. to ck plug, remove leave power connected.to plug. ground plug to unit. Turn on switch.plug should glow bright red.
