Just take off the bottom kickplate (3 screws on the bottom). You'll see the pump front and center. Twist the front face of the pum slowly to the left. All the trapped water will flow right out towards you. There could be a sock or some other debris there. Unclog, screw that faceplate back in and start it up.

F 11 error code on Whirlpool Duet - Serial Communication Error ?

My washer sometimes gives an F11 error code-"serial communication error".  It still works, but I'd like to resolve the problem before it breaks completely.  Is this something I can fix? How do I start troubleshooting?

I believe EVERY machine will have this F11 error eventually. Here is what fixed mine. Remove the top cover by removing the three 7mm screws on the back of the machine at the top. Slide the cover to the rear and lift off. The CCU board has 2 relays on it. They have white plastic covers. One is labeled K4 and I believe the other is K2. There are five legs on each relay soldering them to the circuit board. Remove the circuit board from the machine. It is the one you can see with the top off in the back of the machine. Unplug all the connectors. Unsolder the 2 relays...brand name Omron. With a jewelers screwdriver carefully remove the plastic cover on the K4 relay. Examine the contact points on the normally open contacts and I will guarantee they will look dull and burnt. They should be bright and shiny. You can burnish the contact points lightly and clean them with electrical contact cleaner. If you take off the cover of the 2nd relay you will see the contact points are nice and bright and shiny. Swap the 2 relays and resolder them on the circuit board. While you have the board out, take a pencil eraser and rub it on the contact points where all the connectors slide onto the board. Spray the electrical contact cleaner to wash any residue away. Carefully reinstall the circuit board and replace the top cover. Our machine has done dozens of loads since I did this with no more problems. I expect another failure at some point when the points deteriorate on the swapped relay. At that point I will try and find replacements for both relays. The K2 relay apparently has less voltage going thru the contacts and does not fail. If you feel real comfortable, you can check the "wiping" action of the points by manually operating the relay when you have it out. I adjusted mine to give a bit more wipe on both relays. I hope this helps...it worked for me!!

Oil Like Stains on dark cotton Clothes - Whirlpool duet

Problem Solved !!!
Ok, I had to stop and tell everyone about my latest experience. When we moved here we bought the nice Whirlpool front load washer and dryer set. I Love them....still don't understand how my clothes get clean with so little water, but love them. ..................That is until lately. I was really upset about a total of 4 white blouses that looked to have some kind of light splattered stains on them after washing. I would try to wash them again with a stain remover sprayed or scrubbed on the spots, but they wouldn't come clean. I gave up and considered the blouses ruined. I told William what was happening and he called the repair man out because he thought it might be some kind of part in the machine that was leaking oil onto the clothes when they were washing. The guy came out and told William that there wasn't anything that could go into the washer tub and get onto the clothes. He then looked around in the washer and at the little detergent dispenser drawer. He suggested that we use 1 cup of Clorox and 1/4 cup of dish washer detergent (cascade with dawn degreaser crystals) on a hot to medium water temperature and turn it on a complete wash cycle to make sure that we didn't have mold and mildew setting up in our machine. After he left, I proceeded to do what he told us. I though.....the blouses are probably ruined anyway. I had tried to get out all the spots to no avail, so what the heck......I threw them into the mix too! Would you believe they came out clean, very bright white (instead of yellowed or dingy from continued wear) and the washer smells as sweet as it did when it was new. Why didn't they tell me about this when I bought it ??????????? I plan on putting the detergent mix in the washer every couple of months and throwing in all the whites that I can find to take advantage of the cleaning effect on the whites. (I thought that maybe some of you had gotten stains on white clothes that you would like to get out too)

ERROR CODE (F24) ON A WHIRLPOOL FRONT LOAD WASHER

Hi: The whirlpool website could not help me with this one. The code came up and just reset the unit and everything was fine. I just would like to know what it means. The owner's manual does not cover that code.

I would really appreciate any help so I know what happened.

Thanks
Gus

According to the tech sheet I have, F24 is a water temp sensor error. If the sensor reading is not within specs during the water heating portion of the wash cycle this code will come up.
To find out for sure what this code is for your washer, or for any other service codes that you might encounter, you can look at the tech sheet that is in the washer. Remove the lower front panel by removing the 3 screws holding it at the bottom. The panel slides down and off. The tech sheet will be in a plastic envelope either in the panel or attached to the side panel of the machine, usually on the right side as you are facing it.
You can remove this panel without affecting any warranty you might have because the pump strainer is located there and is user servicable. Just be sure to keep the tech sheet with the washer so some repairman in the future isn't left scratching his head trying to diagnose a problem without the schematic.
Thanks/Mike

Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer will not drain - F-21 error

My Whirlpool Duet Sport washer wll not drain. It gives an F-21 error message. I checked the back drainage hose and it seems clear. I believe I hear something rattling within machine - perhaps kids hair pins somehow got stuck. Looking for help on how to open up machine to try to unclog it myself.

Perfect! Yes, they aer 1/4" 6pt screws. I didn't have to lift my washer, but the previous tech had put in 1 screw crooked, so that was FUN! I had cut out an opening on an old cracked tote and was able to hold all the water as long as I transferred some to a bunch of tupperware. Make sure you line up the upper mark on the white drain plug before putting back in. The tote was getting overloaded and I didn't notice the alignment marks until after having some water overflow. Just a heads-up if anyone has an emergency and HAS to get the plug back in in a hurry.

I found:
Wife's Victoria's Secret panties
2 dimes
4 pennies
some legos
a metal nut
pencil eraser
wall anchor
some legos

Hard Reset - In some cases the control can be non-functioning or may not accept activation from the control panel. To clear and restart the control follow the these steps:

* Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for 30 seconds.
* Reconnect the unit to the power source by turning the breaker back on or plugging the unit back into the wall outlet.
* Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the "PF" in the display.
* Start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

Hi, After about year and half Whirlpool duet sport gave F01 error code. The technician manual is located under the lower front panel. There are three possible reasons for F0: 1) EEPROM ERROOR. Unplug a washer for two minutes. Try running it again. (Did not work for me). 2) MAIN RELAYS ERROR. The tech manual suggests replacing CCU. The following is what I did and it fixed the problem, however. Unplug the washer. Remove the top cover by removing the three screws on the back. The CCU unit is in the right bottom corner if standing in front of the washer – it has a lot of wiring. Plug in the unit. While listening to the CCU start any washing cycle. After pressing START you should hear the relay to click. If it clicks twice, within a less than a second, it has a problem. Unplug the washer. Without disconnecting any wires remove the CCU cage from the washer wall. Stand now on the right hand side of the washer in such way that the CCU cage is under your left hand. Pull the right upper corner of the CCU plastic cage (it has a tab) away from you, slide the cage to the right by about an inch, and pull the entire cage away from you. Now knock on the back side of the cage 4-5 times with a bit of force. Install the CCU cage back. Plug in the unit. Try some washing cycle again. If it did not help, repeat the procedure. If it did not work again, see the following. 3) PUMP DRIVE ERROR. The tech manual suggests replacing CCU.

f8 is shown when the heater circuit is on with no water in.. it doesnt do it when you unplug the pressure switch because your disabling the heat protect circuit

THE BOARD IS PROBABLY FAULTY

F08 indicates pressure switch stuck on full.

Unplug the appliance from the wall socket.

Take the top off the machine.

Locate the pressure switch, you can identify it by the thin tube attached to it.

Take the tube off, blow down this tube as hard as you can to shift any blockage or restriction in the pressure chamber. Give the pressure switch a couple of good taps with the screwdriver handle.

Refit the tube and try the machine again.

If still doing it, unplug again and follow the tube down.

This end will be attached to the pressure chamber.

Take this chamber off and thoroughly clean it out, clean out the port into the tub too.

Reassemble and try again.

If after this it's still faulty you'll need to start replacing parts.

I'd suggest trying a new pressure switch first.

Failing this, if all of the above fails to resolve the problem you're possibly looking at a faulty main control board.

F6 code is an issue with the motor drive tachometer.

Most often this is caused by poor connections at the machine control or motor controller. Locate the main machine control by removing the top panel and the motor control by removing the rear panel. Remove each connector, one at time, and reinstall. If this does not work, you likely have a faulty control.

E1 means that the thermistor is open and needs to be replaced. The connections can be loose but the most likely cause of an E1 error is a bad thermistor.

If you're comfortable and confident in your do-it-yourself skills and have access to a volt/ohm meter you can check and replace this part yourself.

For replacement parts - head on over to SearsPartsDirect.com - PartSelect.com - or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.

Hope helps.
