Filter light keeps flashing

The light flashes after a certain amount of run time. It is a reminder to check the filter to see if it needs cleaning. Once you have checked/cleaned the filter and reinstalled it, press the filter button for 5 seconds and the light should go out.

I have a Whirlpool Model ACQ158XPO wall/window air conditioner. Motor comes on but it does not cool. Any suggestions?

Its really tough to troubleshoot window units without pulling the cover off. If I was standing there looking at it without tools in my hand I would first make sure the fan/cool switch was in the fan high cool mode and that the thermostat was turned all the way to the coolest setting. Beyond that it needs to go in for repair. Wish I could be more help. Good luck.

Can the styrofoam insulation in our air conditioner be replaced or patched?

Yes it can but you will have to use expandable foam. You must shape it after it drys. Old trick, works like a charm. Should be an under $5 repair

That is typically a tale tale sign of ice. Thaw the unit by circulating the fan for a few hours. That's the easiest and cheapest repair.

My home AC is not working my compressor come on

1st check breaker box to see if you have power (tripped breaker) If you have power you should have a licensed contractor diagnose it. Caution the voltages in testing can be high, even deadly if you don't know what you are doing. You must have the proper tools to test. 3rd check 24v signal power. 4th test the capacitor to see if it is within 5% of rating 5th is there a start kit/compressor saver/5-2-1/start assist, or does it need one. 6th test windings and add up the resistance.

How do you get to the inside of the A/C unit. It looks like it should slide out but I can't seem to get it to do it.

Normally you have to lift up and pull out on both sides at the same time helps to have two people do it also check for screws holding it in on the sides

mcdevito75 here, Sounds like the fan motor is haging up or needs to be replaced, try the switch on/off then on/off a few times see if the fan kicks on, if not see your local a/c repair shop, they come to the house.

Can i set it to

Any temperature you set it at, the AC unit will turn ON and OFF automatically. Once the set temperature has been reached and held for 5 minutes, the unit turns OFF, but the fan may continue to blow for a few minutes. When the room temperature rises above the set level, it will automatically turn ON again and continue to run, until the set temperature is reached and it turns OFF.

I really hope this has helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
