did you have sound to the tv before ? if so you need to make sure you select tv on the receiver

I know this may sound stupid, but have you changed the batteries in the remote? they may simply be almost dead!

Yes it is possible to connect a laptop to a monitor by way of the VGA port on the back or side of the laptop. but unfortunately no you cannot connect cable to the monitor.

if you you have lost digital signal in your stereo if you can, look on the back see if you can see a knob or box that says fuse or fuses and see if any of the wires in the round tubes are broken if they are. look on the metal part of the the fuse and see what it says such as 2 amp 250v and replace with the appropriate type. or you can try to leave it unplugged or reconnect all of your audio cables.

For you to process 7.1 you need another pair of speakers. Your setup is 5.1 If you want to see some different 7.1 setups just google images of 7.1 speaker setups. Seeing it it easier than explaining it. Hope this helps

Read the manual. You've either got crossed speaker wires, it's overheating, or it's a more serious problem. The same just started happening to mine, so I'm taking it in.

It's unlikely that you'll be able to use a computer monitor as a television.

Cable boxes have specific outputs, and computer monitors have specific inputs. They generally don't align with one another.

However, your monitor may have VGA inputs on it, and your cable box may have a VGA output (though unlikely).

your dvd player has left audio output . this should be white. aso it has a right audio output this should be red ,both of these are called rca females . note you have to have a cabel with two rca mails and a 1/8 inch stereo mail on the other end. this 1/8 inch plug will go in to your computer input . the other two rca will plug in two your your dvd player and thats that. this will work for you i am a electronics technition . good luck and enjoy your movies

This unit upconverts all video inputs to component output, so connect all your devices to your denon audio and video inputs and component video out of the denon to the tv component in and all should work fine

One or the output channels is probably bad you can check for a short on the output transistors using an ohm meter. Make sure that the receiver is un-pluged. The ouput transistors will be on a large heat sink.

Are your speakers able to handle the 886's power. I have the same reciever and changed by speakers as the Denon would turn off instead of frying the speakers.

As for the digital, have you used the option to change your audio feed and video feed. (for example - I'll show photos through the front input but use the CD -digital for music. Maybe the audio feed is locked onto an analog input. Just a suggestion.

You won't need the VCR, that's only used for a cable box, and since you have one now there is no need. You'll want to connect everything with the better video plugin possible. Composite (red, white, yellow) is the worst, then s-video, then component (red, blue, green), then DVI, then HDMI. That will square your video. Then send all audio signals to the Denon. These cables are usually the red and white cables. OR Plug everything into the Denon to the appropriate input. Then connect the monitor to the video out of the Denon.
