Hi Liz, I am wondering what motor you hear? I think you might hear the condenser fan motor if anything. The two things that I have seen fail on u-line products are condenser fan motors and/or cold controls. Not much to the unit at all. So I am going to assume you hear the fan motor in question, I would check voltage to the compressor and see why it not running first. In order to prevent any confusion or potential damage, just empty the freezer, turn the power off, and leave open for a couple of hours.
