You can try repositioning the photo electric eye by slightly bending the holder up or down. I would look at it and make sure there is nothing on the lens and clean with windex dampened terry cloth rag. This is not recommended but you can by-pass the photo electric eye and if it stays running you have found the culprit. You are not clear as to if it even lights, these suggestions are good only if it ignites. Hope this helps you out.

How to fix a 55,000 BTU torpedo heater. Change
Clean the injector located right beside the spark plug and check both rubber tubes that connect to the housing that the injector screws into and finally make sure you turn the plastic screw on the plate where the filter goes. This screw regulates the air pressure . One of the screws is for a pressure gauge and the other one adjusts the air pressure.

Is this a propane or kerosene heater? If it is kerosene, check your fuel, clean your tank and start with fresh fuel. Check your fuel filter/air filters at the back of air pump. Make sure your ignition system is working.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
Anything that burns produces Carbon monoxide. There is no way to physically vent the space heater but you can leave a side door open for air. The key is to notice the signs of nausea, the lack of ability to do things requiring manual dexterity / clumsiness, dizziness or a headache when your using the unit. Also... it is a good idea to have someone check on you about every 30 minutes if your working alone in a garage. Make sure they know how to turn off the heater and how to open your garage door. (just common sense stuff)
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

It starts for a couple
check the injector nozzle located beside the igniter to see if its clogged. then check your rubber lines that provide air and fuel to make sure they are not cracked or broken. It sounds like you have a fuel and /or air flow problem. remember to put the hoses back in their proper place when you reassemble.

Want light
first thing you should do is make sure that there is ignition whether by spark plug or hot surface igniter. If you have ignition then make sure that you have fuel spraying from the injector located beside the igniter. If you don't have ignition, chances are you have a bad igniter or spark plug. A failed transformer would be the last thing I'd conclude as bad.

I have a r55c reddy,
The air pump pumps air to the nozzle. At the nozzle adapter a vacuum is created, which sucks fuel from the tank and then the fuel is atomized at the nozzle.
If the air pump pressure is not correct, the the fuel will not be delivered correctly.
There is no set number turns to set the adjustment screw. A low pressure gauge must be used for the setting and is an overly simple process if the gauge is available.
Read these instructions.

Heater lights dont stay running when let off auto
Hi,
It sounds like your heat safety sensor has died.
The heat sensor detects heat from the burner to tell the gas solenoid it is ok to keep letting the gas through. If it doesn't detect heat because of a faulty sensor the gas solenoid will shut off to prevent gas pouring into the room.
The sensor will be located in front of the burner and is usually a porcelain insulated steel wire with a single lead running out of the back.
You will need to replace the sensor.
Let me know how you get on.
Cheers,
Dave

Motor has seised up on
Question- are you sure the motor has seized? If the rotor shatters it can bind the motor.
If the motor has seized it must be replaced, It is not serviceable.

Is it ok to clamp
I would say "NO". Safety features are built into heaters for a reason. I assume you are talking about clamping the igniter button. What happens when the heater goes out and doesn't relight. I guessing gas will start to build up possibly getting to explosive levels. You need to find out what the problem is with the heater, not bypass safety features.

I have a 55000btu heater
This must be a kerosene heater? With a spark plug? If you will reply with the model number I can tell for sure.
I will list some of rhe causes for the problem you describe.
- a restricted or worn nozzle (Desa recommended annual replacement). Replace nozzle.
- a loss of air pressure. Air pressure from the air pump is directly related to fuel delivery. Check the pump pressure.
- pump pressure loss due to an air leak around the plastic cover, a crack in the cover, a crack in the air line.
- fuel delivery loss due to a restricted fuel filter or a cracked vacuum line.
- a crack in the nozzle adapter.

Use some soapy water for leak finding.

If your pilot light will not stay lit when you release pilot light button then chances are that your thermocouple is bad. Make sure that the tip of thermocouple is directly in line with pilot light. Tip of thermocouple should be cherry red if it is properly placed. If pilot will not stay lit then replace it. If you aren't sure about placement of thermocouple you can heat thermocouple with a seperate heat source. If you do this and pilot light stays lit then reposition thermocouple in pilot flame. If it still won't keep pilot burning then replace thermocouple. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Getting to much kerosene floods sparkplug and wont
Hello,
This is called over floating. Leave the machine for a while (maybe couple of hours) and try again. By then the over floating would have stopped.
Or, remove the spark plug, scratch it against the ground, fix it back in and try again.
Any of the above should fix this problem.
Good luck.
