Reddy Heater-170,000 BTU Kerosene Deluxe - Page 9 Questions & Answers
My reddy heater was running and ran out of fuel at
probably both and unburnt fuel also. when the unit ran out it still pumped a small quantity of fuel into the hot burner chamber where it turned to smoke and was expelled. carbon monoxide itself is odorless and what is normally referred to as c. o. odor are unburnt fuel products, some of which smell pretty strange.

Hi, If this heater is the Reddy 170,000 b.t.u. heater, model # 170t professional series, then yes you can.It is a multi-fuel heater. Fuels it can use are Kerosene, JP8, Jet A fuel, 1&2 Diesel fuel, and 1&2 fuel oil. It must be this model 170T.

Torpedo Reedy heater 150,000 BTU starts &
There is a flame sensor inside the burner unit. The sensor is like a photo cell that must see the light of the flame or it will tell the burner control to stop the power. You need to see if there is a soot film on the lense of the sensor and make sure the sensor is aimed straight. If the sensor is clean and aimed straight (and the problem persists) then there may be a clogged nozzle that is giving a poor flame and the sensor does not see a good flame therefore shuts down the unit. If the nozzle is at fault, then you for sure need to replace the oil filter. New nozzles are $4-8 and the size & spray angle is stamped on the nozzle. If there is still a problem, then you need to see if the pump is giving approx. 100psi pressure, then finally (the last step) would be to replace the burner control $60. Goodluck< Macgivor

Reddy Heater R 40
the fuel filter is dirty even if it dosent look like it,,they have a high particulate filter and they will stop up pretty quick if you have had a dirty fuel container or just a bad location that you purchased your fuel.

Reddy heater
Sounds like you need to adjust the airflow so that it is getting enough air to burn.

Is it okay to burn Premium Diesel instead of Kero?
yes its ok, just make sure the air pressure pump is dialed in right. With the right air pressure the heater will perform at its best and burn as clean as it can. Its the slotted set screw (plastic usually) on the back next to the air filter. Turn it in 1/4 turn at a time till the nose cone is almost all red or orange in color. This will give you the cleanest burn. Then adjust doors/windows for fresh air as needed. Hope this helps

170T will not kick on when I plug it in and turn
I have a 125t that would do a similar thing, found out that on the board a micro resistor or diode whatever would short and fry the board. Check your board carefully following the lead from the igniter wires. Hopefully that is not the problem because then its a new $$$$$ board!

I have a new reddy
Hi,
WD-40... spray it on the shaft at the motor and if you can see the shaft at the back of the motor, there also. Then spinn the motor by hand till you get it freed up and it will spin very easily. After getting it working like that then a few drops of light motor oil or sewing machine oil will keep it going. At many hardware stores or HVAC supply houses they sell the oil in a can with an extendable spout so you can get it right in on the shaft at the motor. If you can tilt the motor front or back when you place the oil to run it in to the motor. Spinning the fan by hand while the oil in running back will help to work in into the bearing.
Please comment back to me if you have any questions.

Heter trys to ignite, replaced igniter, cleaned fuel filter
1. Check the ignition transformer. It may be grounded,
or it could be defective, and need to be replaced.
2. You have already replace the igniter and the
photoeye.
3. Once the ignition transformer works, everything will
be alright.
May this tip help you.

When i trun the switch
Find the flame sensor,it is the eye,it senses the flame,so that it will run, when you find it,clean the eye so it can see the flame, and it will run.

Check your fuel filter,, could be running out of fuel, due to obstruction in fuel delivery system. Either crud in the tank clogging up the pickup,,or maybe even water in your fuel. Your filter might be it,,have you been running diesel?? check it out....
