Try to print a document. If it does not print, do the following:

1. Unplug the power cable of the printer while it is ON. (Hard reset)
2. Disconnect the printer cable from your computer.
3. Shutdown the computer.
4.Turn the computer back ON after 30 second.
5. Connect back the printer cable to the computer.
6. Plug the power cable of the printer and turn it on.
7. Try to print a document first. If it prints, proceed to scanning.

What we are doing is that we are trying to see first if the printer is establishing connection with your computer. Make sure that the cables are properly connected.

The paper feed kit is the pick up rollers and the transfer rollers. You can thake those out clean them and replace them, but unless you are actually having paper feed issues usually just clean the paper tray feed rollers with alcohol and reset the paper feed kit counter if needed.

The error indicates multiple problems, and needs to be serviced by a ASC Brother Center. Go to brother.com and go to support and then service center then enter your zip code or you can ship to us since we are a ASC Center for Brother.

Hit in sequence Menu,*,2,8,6,4
This will put it in maint. mode.
Press 88
That is parts counter reset, scroll down and hit ok on the part you want to reset the counter. :)

Try re-installing the scanner software - if you don't have the disc you can download it. The scanner is a very delicate mechanism so is easily damaged - if the software fix don't work maybe it is kaput

Have you replaced the Drum unit? Drum unit on Brothers can be reset if copy is good and you do not want to replace. If copy bad replace Drum. Rebuilt drums work as good as original at half price.

first open the front cover, Then press the clear\back button. When the machine displays "replace drum? press *00 and close the front cover

Fax machines are ANALOG devices and will not work reliably on DIGITAL phone lines.

Sensor that detects paper needs to be replaced. Same thing happened to my machine and I had to take it in to a Brother repair company. 1 hour service call
