Plug off the wall. There is a thin rubber tube going from the switch area to the exit near the outlet tube. Probably this is blocked. This tube should be free from any blockage; take out the top clip from this tube and blow into it - it should be free, clear the blockage if any and refit. This is the water level tube which tells the machine when to switch off water, etc.....

An F-05 error message means that the pressure switch is jammed on empty or a problem with pump. The fault is associated with drain out (pump blocked or restricted in some way). Small panel at rear of machine reveals the pump, pull of the two pipes (Plastic clips hard to get off, slide them sideways), remove wire and unclip pump from base of machine by lifting locking tab and sliding to the left, pump can then easily be cleaned.

Hotpoint Aqarius WF740 with fault F-01

I have a hotpoint aqarius WF740. In the final spin of the cycle I heard an odd noise that made me look over at the machine. A few seconds later I saw a bright spark under the machine and the house fuse blew. There is a slight smell of burning in the air. The machine now says F-01. What has happened? The machine is only 3 years old, but we have had frequent problems with various parts. Is it cost effective to fix, or time to get a new one? Any ideas?

I concur with the previous assesment of the problem for error code F01, it is indeed a short circuit motor triac.
How ever , at this stage, I would suggest you remove the motor, clean the armature with emery cloth, and see if there is any obvious sign of a short circuit on the armature, if it looks o/k then I would speculate on fittng a new pair of carbons as opposed tro replacing the motor.
I have often done this myself and found in 9 cases out of ten, this does the trick.
If it still does not work , then there is no guarantee that fitting a new motor will solve the prob, as there is a distinct possibility it could have blown the pcb as well.
Then you would have bought a new motor for nothing and this would put it beyond economical repair.
Plz rate my comments.
Thanks

Instruction Manual for Hotpoint washer dryer wd420

Hi,
I recently purchased a reconditioned washer dryer so have no instruction manual for it. The washes seem simple to follow however i only appear to be able to dry close on cycle M (drying programme) which locks the door and sounds like an actual wash instead of a dryer - also when i put this on the clothes come out damp and cold - is there another way to start the dryer? and is there anyway to down load a manual? as i don't want to call the company i bought this off until i'm sure it's definately broken.
Cheers :)

Hello,

F6 error is apparently a motor fault. The
motor could be jammed, open circuit ,
burnt out. It may just be a broken wire
or connection come off. Check the motor.

I have a Hotpoint WDF740

This just happened to my hotpoint washing machine, I realise it has been a long time since this has been asked but since my answer is different from the others I thought I'd add it anyway in the hope it will be useful to someone one day. The fix was super easy, all that was wrong was the plastic knob itself, which had broken internally. I only found this out after taking the top and front covers off, which is an easy enough procedure, I did it this way: unplugged the washing machine, removed two screws from back of machine that hold top cover in place, then using a putty knife pushed between the top and front covers front to back right at the corners, thus releasing the top cover, once this was out I could unclip the front cover and get to the screws that hold the control board to the front cover. I unplugged the electrical connection to the board, removed all the screws and unclipped it from its plastic cover. At this point I could see the plastic knob had broken, I recovered the broken bit and glued it back on. After the glue dried, I just put everything back in place reverting the previous actions. Hope this helps. If you don't have glue or can't find the broken piece, you should be able to just buy another plastic knob off the internet.

Sounds like you may have a short in a wire. I would open the unit and take a look. You may want to also open it and run it to see if you can track it down.
