Im afraid you dont. It sounds like you may have broken the LCD assy. or the cable runnin g to the screen and its not that the parts are too expensive to repalce its just dang hard to get bthem. The best thing you can do it ask your provider or who you bought the phone from if they can get replacement parts for you. Good Luck

call the customer service of your service provider ( AT&T,Vodafone,Verizon etc)....they will set up message center number on your phone , the one that you have might be incorrect...your mobile operator will send you sim updates that will refresh the settings ....and then you will get the text message options

press menu....settings....advanced.....reset to defaults.....reset settings(reset all will delete your sim contacts) But this is just to reset your phone but most likely this is not your problem, your phones most likely defective or water damaged

ok you need to call web support at nextel, they need to fix your texting. most likely you put your sim card into another nextel model. they need to clear it up in the back end they might need to verify your serial number and update it.

did you leave your phone by somewhere cold, try taking a hair dryer against it for 5 minutes. than retry otherwise take it to a service center
